I'm new to the Android platform and I like my Vortex. The only things I would like to change about it is the fact that Bing is forced to be on there and Skype. I would like to know if there's a way to remove these apps from the phone??

I've looked over the thread about rooting the phone but I'm not really interested in that. I simply want to remove Bing and Skype and want to know how or if thats possible without rooting my phone.

I tried and tried as well to uninstall the "bloatware" on my Vortex, with no luck. Verizon is in the game to get you to pay an extra 2 or 3 dollars a month, and they will try to squeeze that out of you in any way that they can. Namely, with bloatware. I could not find any other way to free my phone from the bloatware than to root it. It can be VERY risky and if you are not familiar with command line operations, I would not recommend it. You can however move applications to the SD card to free up room on your phone. To do this, at your home screen, click the menu button, (button with a square and smaller square on it) click on "Settings", click on "Applications", then "Manage Applications", scroll down through your apps and click on them, it will show you basic data about these apps, and if it is possible for them to be moved to the SD card, their will be a button that says "Move to SD card". This may help some, but it will not "free" your phone.

Sorry, thats the only thing I know to suggest.

I don't know about Bing, but for Skype, if you're using Root Explorer, go to the /system/app/ folder, find the Skype (differently named, but you should see the Skype icon), and delete that file. Then reboot your phone.
