Removing Photos from Gallery

I have note 8 and when I touch any picture in gallery I do not get the delete command nor when I select a picture I do not get the trash icon any ideas?

OK first post for me here, but I just returned from a week in Hawaii with my nexus tablet and I also couldn't delete pictures in the gallery, that I had just taken. Tonite I found I could go into the Photos app, below the the Gallery app, and by tapping on the pix to enlarge it, the trash can now appears at the bottom of the page. I don't understand a lot of how this works, but it sure beats carrying a laptop, as I used to do.

Ok, first I should tell you I am old and a slow learner however, when I learn something I have it forever. I clicked on the photo and enlarged it but the delete or trash can never showed up. Now what?

Welcome to Android Central! Keep in mind that there are two gallery apps--the original Gallery app, and the one called Photos (with an icon that looks like a pinwheel).

In the Gallery app, select a photo, tap the menu button (the 3 vertical dot button at the upper right), then select Delete. However, the Gallery app will only allow you to delete photos that are saved locally on your device. If you pick a photo that is in your cloud photo album (i.e., in Google+), you won't be able to delete it using the Gallery app. To delete photos in your Google+ albums, you can use the Photos app.
