Okay, so, I'm having an issue with my calendar. When I create a repeat event on my phone, then check google calendar on my PC the event shows up on my PC. However, if I try to delete that repeat event from my phone, then check google calendar, it's still there. I have tested this functionality with non-repeat events, and, it works fine. It seems to be just an issue for repeat events.

From what I can gather, it's an Android or Google issue. It happens on multiple phones from different manufacturers, and, can happen with third party calendars.

And, as far as I can tell, this is not a new issue. Google may even know about it. However, I am unable to find any useful information for this issue. Does anyone know of a fix? Or a workaround?

Okay, so, I haven't solved this, but, I wanted to post an update. It's actually only one scenario (at least that I could identify in testing) that is an issue.

Here is what works and syncs properly with Google Calendar:

  • Create single event on Google Calendar
  • Create single event on phone
  • Delete single event on Google Calendar
  • Delete single event on phone
  • Create repeat event on Google Calendar
  • Create repeat event on phone
  • Delete all occurrences of a repeat event on Google Calendar
  • Delete all occurrences of a repeat event on phone
  • Delete one occurrence of a repeat event on Google Calendar

The real problem, doesn't sync with Google Calendar:
  • Delete one occurrence of a repeat event on phone

Does anyone have any ideas on this? I have a Droid X2. Maybe someone with an X2 and someone else without an X2 that wouldn't mind testing this could help out? I guess what I really just need tested is the actual problem that doesn't sync. I would need whoever is willing to help to create a repeat event, make sure it syncs properly with Google Calendar. Then, after that, try and delete just one instance of this event from their phone. I'd really appreciate it if someone would help with this.

Just a note, if anyone wants to test this, I found it easiest to also create or delete a single event from the phone in tandem with whatever you are testing that you think wont work. If it doesn't work, you can't really tell if you are still waiting for it to sync, or, if it's just not working. Creating or deleting a single event in tandem gives you something that you know works that will let you know you are synced. Once you see in Google Calendar that your single event has been created or deleted, you know you are synced and can check the test.

Thanks to anyone that can test this, or, has any info on this issue!!

Would someone please test this for me? It'll only take a couple of minutes. I just want to know if the problem is unique to me or not. I just need someone to create a repeat event in their calendar from their phone, delete ONE instance of the repeat event from their phone, then go to Google Calendar (not your calendar app) and see if the instance of the event is gone.

I'm bored at work...so I did it.

Short answer - worked fine for me.

Long answer -

For the record, I'm using a Sprint Google Nexus S 4G. Also, I don't use the stock calendar app, I use Calengoo. If you're a power calendar user (like me), this app is AWESOME! The settings/customization is just insane. As far as I'm concerned, an app can't have "too many" options...but this app comes close!

I opened Calengoo on my phone, it sync'd with Google calendar (I have it configured to sync on opening).

I created a recurring event (every day, starting today, at 9pm until next Wednesday).

When I saved the event, I saw that Calengoo sync'd the changes.

I closed Calengoo.

I then went to Gmail (through my desktop weg browser), and launched Google Calendar.

My recurring event (all instances) was there.

I then closed Google Calendar.

Went back to the phone and opened Calengoo (it sync'd).

Opened up Thursday (tomorrow), and deleted the single event of the recurring series. Calengoo sync'd.

Closed Calengoo.

Went back to my Gmail, reopened Google Calendar.

My recurring event was scheduled for today (Wednesday), Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed.

The Thursday instance that I'd deleted from the phone...was gone from Google Calendar.

Thanks!! I hadn't even considered that it could have been the app that was the issue. Assumed it was some issue with the sync. I really appreciate you testing this and for leaving me detailed analysis. After all the info I detailed, and two bumps with additional info, I felt a bit let down that no one would test it. I'm glad that this was able to provide you with an escape from your boredom at work. These forums are good for that. Haha.

But, I will look into Calengoo, as well as alternative calendars. Now that I know what the issue is I feel relieved. I just hope it's not a Droid X/X2 or Moto phone issue. Haha.

I will post results when I get some bored at work time myself to play with apps. Thanks again!!

It only took me about a week of use to find the built-in Android calendar app to be woefully lacking.

I kept having problems getting it to open to "Today", single-day view each time I launched it.

Also had issues with events being sent via e-mail going only to the "default" calendar (I have 3, not counting things like "US Holdays").

Had issues with trying to move items from one calendar to another on the device.

I tried a couple of aftermarket ones from the App Market.

I found a 10-minute review of Calengoo on YouTube...saw that it had all the power and flexibility that I was looking for. His only criticism of the app was there were "too many settings". That sold it for me!

I honestly like it. Other than this, I have no issues with it. But, this is kind of a big deal for me. I am a heavy calendar user, and, I use repeat events constantly, so, this one issue is enough of an issue. Haha.

Strange. Mine opens to whatever view I was last on. I prefer it to open to Today, and, every time I open my calendar, it does so.

I don't use the other functionality you mentioned, so, I can't comment on it.

Hahaha, yea, I'm one for lots of options and settings myself, so, I'm looking forward to getting some time to mess around with it. Thanks again for the suggestion, can't wait to check it out!!
