What do you guys think? I'm considering it mainly for the increase in camera quality, storage, screen, design and battery. This wouldn't be on a two year contract.

You guys think its worth it?

We just bought the HTC one for the lady - she was not even in market for phone but saw it while in T-Mobile picking SIM up for my nexus 4, loved it and had to buy it. Personally I like the Nexus better for the pure Android experience. If cost was not a factor and updates were timely I would move to the rumored senseless HTC One though for the camera alone. But at what I'm sure the cost will be it is not worth it to me.

Are you talking about the dev edition?

I dunno, $600 to go backwards on Android and forwards on a lot of cool features... tough call; if it were me I wouldn't do it but I consider the devices to be too close to each other overall. I am interested in what you decide, because it sounds like the One is calling to you!

i know the ultra pixel camera is reviewed very good against the s4 and the iphone5... but for some reason i cant pull the trigger one the One but know if it had a 18mp camera i probably would be using it right now. The S4 is not perfect either cause I want the front stereo speakers and not a fan of the cartoony touchwiz and software bloat/bulk... the plastic is not bad in person. So I look at my N4 and I start to fall in love of the pure android and "Nexus" of it and it runs so fast (feels faster than the S4 in use)... And I think 4.3 will be cool to have when no one else has it and gives me time until I find the phone I want.

S4 and the One is tops on my list... but now I can wait to see what next years Nexus will have...
- maybe the optimus g pro hardware in a 4.7 screen I wish running key lime
- or what sounds interesting is the rumored sony with 20mp cybershot camera and the bravia engine display running the latest cpu and memory and a close to stock OS.... that camera would probably rock.

Next Nexus is also only 5-6 months away. I'm willing to wait to see it.

unless you use your phone without case i dont see it a concern... i use a ringke slim case and the more i stop worrying about the phone and take it jogging in my belt or in my pocket mountain biking... i have found it to be a solid phone. if i got a one i would probably case it up to keep the aluminum from being scuffed too.

Is the N4's glass back a concern? If so, you need to factor that into the decision.

im ceaseless no damage to my n4.

I am using a Diztronics TPU case and a a Horizontal Leather Holster and I can't see the back ever getting damaged unless I drop it quite a few feet.

As a nexus 4 owner I advise you to stay only if you have a rooted device, screen could have been a lot better had it been callibrated properly by google, but it can be callibrated with a custom kernel. Speaker output, in call volume level and quality, headphone output can be set higher with a custom kernel. Touch sensitivity ain't good. It's not even acceptable. Touch driver can be downgraded from e017 to e015 to improve it. Overall it's a poor device from google, I would rather say a rushed device. If you are not into rooting thing, then switch ASAP.

I cannot disagree more. The Nexus 4 feels very much like a premium device. It's very refined and everything functions perfectly on non-rooted stock. It all depends on your opinion.

HTC One advantages:
Slightly better screen
Slightly better processor
Better camera
More durable back
Better sound

Nexus 4 advantages:
Newer version of Android
Promised quick OS updates
Stock, unbloated Android
Runs smoother
Smaller in size (screen is same size)

As you can see the phones are very close. It depends on what you prioritize more. For me the biggest priority is Android version and updates, which is why I chose and still choose the N4. If you prioritize things like a higher quality camera or speaker, the HTC One is for you.

I was also intrigued by the One. I grabbed the unlocked version from HTC planning on taking advantage of their "trade up" promo. I ended up sending it back after a week... It's a nice phone, just not that much nicer than my N4. I really missed the stock 4.2 experience.

From which phone did you switch to n4? If you have ever used a "premium device" you could call n4 anything but a perfect device out of the box.

this.

And OP, I assume your Nexus 4 is already paid for? In that case, why upgrade at all? In today's smartphone world it's pretty wise to keep 1 previous phone at home as a backup rather than selling it/ trading it. If you really must do it now, keep your N4 as an emergency backup if the newer one breaks, but I agree with the above post, I'd wait even though I on;y say that because I'm hoping the Fall 2013 releases will be better than the S4/One.

We have one resident of the Nexus 4 forum who is always eager to tell the rest of us why we should upgrade immediately in almost every thread like this though, so I expect you'll be seeing his appearance in this thread shortly.

I don't plan on selling or trading my Nexus 4. I'm just gonna buy the HTC One and still have my Nexus. I've had my fair share of problems with the Nexus 4 and, even though its a nice phone, I am getting tired of some of the weak points it offers.
