Replaced symbols

I recently got an S6 active and the heart symbol ( <3 ) in the standard messages app is always replaced by a stupid little green face. Why would I want this as default? It doesn't show up when I'm actually typing a message, but it shows up as that within any text message, sent and received. There's probably more I haven't seen yet. How do I disable this?

As far as I know you can't but with the S6 Active there is an entirely knew emoji keyboard with hearts for you to choose from
