So I got my Maxx about 4 weeks ago. Had the oringinal for about 2.5 weeks. Was getting about 18 hours on 4g and screen brightness about 75% with facebook. Thats all I do really. Games sometimes. Had an issue of what they call " Black screen of death " so they replaced it and the battery didnt seem to be nearly as good. So they replaced it. This one doesnt match up either. I am lucky to get 13 hours. Anyone else having issues? Did I get a weird device to start? And if I dont use internet that much will I notice a difference in games or facebook if I turn 4G off? Thats the only way I know to get my 18 hours back.. Any input is appreciated.

Why not use a 4G toggle and just use as needed? I guess it depends with games as to whether they require an internet connection or not. 3G might be sufficient. I don't get 4G here at all yet and 3G is fantastic on my maxx.

How's the reception in places where you normally hang out? If reception is spotty, your phone can drain battery while trying to search for a signal. Where I work, there's a room where I hang out quite a bit that has terrible reception, and I used to notice significantly faster battery drain on my old Droid Incredible. Haven't paid as close attention with my Maxx (because it doesn't matter as much :D), but I'm guessing the same thing happens.

If your 'black screen of death' is what I think it is, it probably wasn't a 'black screen of death.' Was it a case of your phone being off, then not being able to get the screen to come back on? If so, that's an easy force reboot fix that some of us have experienced, hopefully to be corrected in a future OTA. The phone basically just gets stuck in sleep mode.

Also, a 5 hour difference doesn't seem like much at all, but there are way too many factors in play to claim the 5 hour difference is due to bad batteries. Signal strength, usage time, 'up time', apps running, background processes, etc., can all contribute to worse battery life.
