Replacement battery?

So it's pretty apparent that the battery in the S4 is not great. In fact, it's the worst battery I have ever had in a smart phone. I don't want to just buy another stock battery
if it's going to be just as bad. Does anyone know of a replacement extended battery that happens to be the same physical size, not requiring a new larger back cover for the phone?

That's interesting because I think I'm having problems with my battery ghosting the bottom of the screen. So I'll be interested in the replies to your question. :D

It's to the manufacturer's advantage to pack in as much battery capacity as possible without compromising phone size and weight as the phone comes stock. There are a few aftermarket batteries that will fit and claim some amount of additional capacity. I doubt you will see any real benefit unless you go with an extended battery and matching back cover. Those are available in 7000 mAh and greater, giving you tons of juice.

I am getting 17-18 hrs with 3 1/2 hrs screen time. I turned off Google Now & use Juice Defender PRO to manage when wifi & mobile data turn on for synchronization. Also running custom rom & kernel.

My apologies for being slightly off topic and not suggesting an extended life battery, but I've found the stock battery life to be pretty good. In that regard, it should be noted that I'm not a heavy user and tend to re-charge often. My primary battery charge preservers are Snapdragon's BatterGuru app, the Lux Auto Brightness app, turning off location access in Google apps except when actually needed, and using airplane mode when home at night (I have a very weak cell signal at home so rely on landline for phone service there). I'm currently at 47% battery charge with 2d 17h 34m on battery (but only 1h 26m screen time). There do seem to be a lot of defective battery reports here, but still very small numbers compared to the total number of S4s that have been sold.

Thanks for that. I'm certainly going to try some of the battery preserving applications. I used to charge my phone when it was in the protective case which was a mistake. I certainly find that when everything is turned off (Bluetooth, 4G and WiFi) the battery hardly drains at all.

Why was charging in the case a mistake?

I'm actually pretty impressed with the battery on this phone. As someone else pointed out, I'd go with one of the thicker batteries that needs a bigger back cover though. I'd be curious to see how well those work.

Apparently it generates lots of heat and can ruin the battery and the phone! :(

For the same dimensions I think theres only really the ZeroLemon 3000 mah but it doesnt have NFC.

I went with the Anker battery, its exactly the same as Samsungs.

Ok. So I take it that the Anker battery is cheaper? I know that you can get larger capacity ones with a special back. I think that OEM must be the safest.

Well I am certainly not getting the life that I used to or even close to the life that my old Droid 3 had. I have never posted my stats before...could someone
look at these and give me some suggestions?

The screen always takes a lot of power. I've bought the Anker 5200mAh since it was half price. I just hope it fits and does not make the phone like a brick! :D

Well I've received my Anker 5200mAh battery now and I think it's superb. It fitted like OEM and the back is great. It does make the phone more bulky but more solid to hold which is good. If you're having battery drain it's worth a punt. I got it at half price on Amazon UK. :D
