Replacement calendar for former webOS user

Just switched from Palm Pre to Evo 3D, and I'm loving it.

Only stumbling block is figuring out how to deal with the calendar. First, I need a wider range of options to schedule repeating events than what's in the stock calendar - e.g. every 14 days, or a daily repeat for a limited period of time.

Second, I'd love to find a way to transfer my calendar events from my Palm Profile on the Pre to the Android Calendar. (Not my contacts - I already had them in Google Voice, so they transferred without a problem.)

I'm looking at some replacement calendars - maybe Jorte. Also interested in Pimlical, since I used datebook for years. But I need a calendar that can sync with my Google calendar events (where my work appts are stored) while maintaining a separate calendar for my personal events (so my personal events don't end up on my work calendar, which is accessible to many people at work).

Suggestions? Particularly interested in hearing from anyone using Pimlical for Android. Thanks!

As a former Pre owner, I'm interested in the answers to your questions too. I just got the E3D yesterday!

So, since the stock calendar syncs with your Gmail calendar. Get on the web Gmail and go to Calendar and follow these instructions:

Repeat an event - Google Calendar Help

All the options that you ask for are there. It works for me. Plus, you can set up multiple calendars and have the choice of which to display when on the phone.

thanks, realmike.

that solution seems slightly unwieldy because i would need to have internet access in order to add events to my (second) google calendar that will then get synced onto the phone. but it's a free solution that might address all my concerns - so I may give it a try.

Depending on how many calander events you have on your Pre... You could add your gmail.com account to your pre. Then one by one click on each event and edit the event. Then you would change it from your palm profile to google. Then save and sync. It take awhile but will work.

You can always use the browser on the phone to access ur gmail. Yes, it it is a little bit of a pain. Hopefully, you don' t have ro do that very often. My guess most people don't and rhat is why they left out all the options on the phone app. You might fit into the worst case scenario and might have to complain loudly to ger your wheel greased.

Well, I seriously considered Pimlical, but it looks like Pimlical for Android doesn't sync directly with Google Calendar. Pimlical for Windows does sync with Google, but I wasn't really inclined to install Pimlical on my computer and also on Android (and pay for both) just to solve my occasional need for recurring events that the stock Evo calendar can't handle.

After struggling with how to get a second Google calendar to sync with the Evo (a mess of a process), I gave up, and instead created a second, separate Google account that I am using for my personal appointments (and nothing else).

So on the Evo side I can schedule a particular appt to be either a personal appt (syncing to my personal Google account calendar) or a work appt (syncing to my original Google calendar). and from the Google calendar I have a fuller range of options for scheduling recurring events.

Re the other issue, since i don't have a huge number of personal appts, I am copying them manually off of my Pre and onto the Evo 3D.

I'll see how this works out, but so far it looks good. Thanks realmike for your suggestion!

this is what i did and it worked great..... BUT now that I have them on my 3D and i realize that some of the events need to be on a different calendar I cant switch them as easily as I could on my Pre.

My question is how can i move an event from one account to another on my phone? With synergy on the Pre is was much easier.
