Replacement Nexus is disapointing

I haven't seen anything backing that up in all honesty, and I've seen plenty of "good" .10s as I have .09s. Have you any links?

FWIW, I've owned four .09 devices.

And here is why our signal sucks, generally.

This is why your Verizon Nexus signal "sucks" - Galaxy Nexus - RootzWiki
"Signal sucking" and dropping data/voice signal momentarily are 2 different issues.. If you have a baseband I515.10, you'll know the difference. I have 3 .09 and 2 .10, The 2 newer ones drop regularly. The 3 older ones don't. Not a coincidence.

My data has dropped, as have others with the same version. All I ask for are links, because I'm thoroughly intrigued by this and would like to know if anyone has done a comprehensive comparison.

But until Samsung makes official comments, all of it is speculation imo.

Links to what? Verizon has been pretending there's not an issue for months, despite it being a widely reported complaint. An occasional data drop is one thing, but several per day (10 or more) is something completely different.

Links to studies/posts/whatever discussing the differences between the .09 and .10 revisions and how one is linked to data dropping and the other is not. Particularly since when I last looked:

  1. No one had any idea what was actually different.
  2. The software for each is the same and I've seen photos and have heard about similar experiences with both.
  3. The data drop issue was prevalent long before the .10 revisions were widespread.
  4. The software should, in theory, work the same regardless. If not, that would be a tremendous oversight and I cannot see Google/Verizon doing that.
  5. There is no mention or no real literature about the hardware revision, which makes me side with some (most) commenters that believe it's not very "widespread" and, in the end, is rather consequential and merely reflects a different point of manufacture.

I'm not necessarily saying you're wrong, but that I've never seen this mentioned with any sort of authoritative force before, and that alone is somewhat surprising. That's all :).

I'm done here. Not looking to debate. Sharing my experiences like others suffering this issue. I had some insight to share since I have several units and have done extensive testing. I'm just glad Verizon is finally acknowledging the issue and will be releasing a software update soon.

That was certainly not my intent, I just appreciate having as much info as humanly possible, that's all. No offense was meant to be given..:-\

For anyone getting numerous data drops daily, try turning lte off for a day and see if the drops stop. Also, you can dial ### (send) as soon as signal returns after each drop to mark your log showing a pattern, then call tier 2 support and tell them that so they can isolate the problem. Make sure to tell them what baseband you're on.

When I had my Nexus for almost a week it dropped signal every five minutes or less. The replacement could not even complete activation and account sign in due to signal issues. My Thunderbolt was and still is rock solid in the same areas. The Nexus kept great signal on CDMA only but that is not what I bought it for.

my galaxy nexus I had since launch didnt drop data.. my replacement I got this week drops it all the time..

All Verizon gnex are garbage
I have had mine for like 7months and I have all the problems others have but I'm not going to even bother with trying to get a replacement used gnex. Best thing to do is get the GSM version or suck.it up and wait for the next nexus to come out

Same, I was gonna try and get a replacement for mine because it kept (completely) losing connection to the LTE network. Called VZW and all they wanted to do was try and "troubleshoot" my phone. I decided it wasn't worth the headache. I put my phone in CDMA mode and now I never get dropped from the network but, obviously, now I can't use a key feature of the device. As soon as the next Nexus is available from Google I'm going to purchase one and use it with a T-Mobile prepaid SIM. HSPA+ speeds are on par with VZW's LTE speeds in my area anyway.

my replacement had 2 subtle scratches on it.. but both were about 1/2 inch long. also had odin on it, and had horrible 3g connectivitiy. getting another replacement in the mail tomorrow.. crossing my fingers.

My first replacement was the same way. Scuff marks in the coating; if it's perfectly clean/polished, you couldn't see it. But the minute dirt/fingerprints got on there, the scuffs became clear as day. Very disconcerting.

I'm on my 5th one. It was great in the beginning but went downhill. Constant overheating, extreme battery loss, locking up, and random restarts and touch screen problems. I'm told the overheating is a common problem & could be causing the other issues. They finally agreed to give me a GS3 instead. Extremely disappointed in the GNex.

got my 2nd replacement, no scratches and no 3g issues so far.. seems to work much better then the other one.. keeping my fingers crossed though.

also this one is Korea and .09 baseband.. does that mean when the software update comes for the .10 baseband that it will probably have better signal then my phone?

No. As far as I can tell that doesn't matter.

I doubt it, but hope the .10 phones will then be as good as yours. ;-)

Verizon will be releasing a software update for this phone soon? Is there proof of this?
