Okay, with all the s..t happening in the northeast, my Nokia 7.1 decided that is does not like cords. Cleaned the port, have been using a magnetic cord, whole none yards and then some. I need a replacement but have no idea as to what. Was looking at the Nokia 7.2 but there seem to endless problems. Then the Samsung a50 but annoying problems there. ANY suggestions on what would be a good replacement will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

It seems budget might be a concern since you're looking at the Samsung A50. Have you looked at Motorola devices? They make some decent phones in budget price ranges.

I was trying to replace my Nokia 7.1. I had purchased this one after I broke the digitizer on my lumia 950. I know I down graded with the Nokia but I need decent pictures for my side business and a solid working phone. I also hate Apple so those are out.

For photos, the LG V60 is making waves right now. The V-series has always been the best if you want manual controls, but lacked somewhat in auto mode. Everything I've seen about the new V60 suggests the auto mode has some improvements that put it close to, if not on par, with Samsung (one of the Kings of point and shoot phones).

I started to look more, found a Moto G stylus with 128gb. Why does it seem that the older phones have more to offer? Most of the others no longer have SD card slots.

The SD card was one of the reasons I personally went with the V60, the camera being another. Google, in general, doesn't like us using SD cards for whatever reason. That's why theirs phones don't have them, and also explains some of the restrictions placed on their use by the OS. The trend now is towards massive internal storage and cloud based storage, which makes SD cards less of a concern. This is especially true when recording 4K60 videos, which needs faster write speeds than many SD cards are capable for live recording. Instead of recording to internal storage and manually copying to the card later, you can simply leave it on the internal storage and let the cloud backup happen automatically.

Don't get me wrong, though, I love having the SD card. I'm just explaining the justifications on any manufacturers have started removing them.

I understand the push toward the cloud. That is one of the current issues I run against alot. I like to have my files with me and being mine, not in exchange for storage space. Kinda why I don't like Google too much but I am stuck since windows dumped their phones. They were the best, virus proof since they sandboxed every application and gave you control over it all.
As to budget, trying to stay around $300. That way when they brick it is not too much of a loss. But then, I also keep a phone for a few years anyway. I still think the high prices are crazy for a phone/tablet.

I had relatively bad luck with my first and only Moto. I've had good luck with my Nokia 6.1.

It's an old phone now, but the 6.1 gave me everything I wanted, security updates, Android version update/s , micro SD, etc. I don't recommend buying an old phone but I'd look into what they are offering most recently. Good luck.
