Replacing old micro SD Card - not as simple as copying

I am replacing my 64GB micro SD card with a 128GB one.
I read a few posts that seems to say it was as simple as copying all the files from one to the other and then starting up the G4 with the new card,

It does not appear to be that simple, because if you look at the card in File manager within Android you see the SD card actualy appears as /storage/3644-041F

When I look at the new 128GB SD Card within android it has a diffferet GUID. Something like /storage/3265-932J or some such. Many of the apps that have stuff on the SD card (msic etc) have used this folder name and therefore complain it is missing.

Is there any way to do this properly because a lot of apps will be badly effected?

yes
1.go for compuster help
2.try for any app on play store
3.main if you got asll files of need at old data folder copy them and later on paste it to your new sd card using any other file manager like root explore or es file explorer then when dialog box appers for old file skip them

it is simple

I am afraid I do not really understand your response but I think you are saying to re-install any apps and copy and paste the data over.

I am hoping someone can come up with a better suggestion than that as this will require a lot of work. I will do this as a last resort if no one has a better idea..

I had the same thing happen, but under different circumstances: when I upgraded from lollypop to marshmallow, android started assigning a number to the card.

I had a few apps that had the old storage location saved, and had no choice but to go into each app and change the stored location. There was no need to reinstall any of my apps.

So I guess I have no solution for you, but at least you're not alone ;)
