Request Help in Flashing a custom Rom

I had to upgrade from a KitKat ROM, in which my firmware was (NC4). Since I had to flash a stock Verizon lollipop factory ROM my firmware has changed to ( N900VVRUEOF1). Does anyone know if I can flash a Custom ROM that has a different firmware ? or know of a ROM with a compatible firmware ? Thank You in advance. :o
