So i have fingerprint setup, but every time i restart or turn my phone off/on i requires me to put my password in first. Shouldn't it just default to my fingerprint? If i turn the screen off and on again it requires my fingerprint.

Think it's some kind of security feature, it's the same on iPhones or other android phones like 6p.

You can thank encryption for that. Fingerprint scanner can't access your scans until you enter a password to boot the bad boy up. Personally I like it.

All phones that have a FP scanner (to my knowledge) require the PW on boot... After that it will use the FingerPrint Scanner.

It's an option in settings called Secure Start-up.

I know that one but even if you have that set to "Do not require" it will still require the pin or PW once it gets to the lock screen before the FP scanner will take hold.

The one you set within Secure Start-Up simply requires PIN before it even gets into booting Android so it is another layer of protection.

Ah so really two levels though the same pin.

Yep. Such as I keep the Secure Start-Up on so I have to enter my PIN 2x on reboot .. But after that the FP scanner takes hold. It shouldn't be too much of an issue unless someone reboots a lot.

Anyway to remotely unlock the phone with this? My screen crashed and because if this stupid feature I cannot back the phone up.

Why can't you? Can't enter the password?

The LCD is broken inside the phone so all i see is black. The capacitive buttons light up and i get notifications, as well as them on my Moto 360. Im sending it in for repair but they said they will factory reset it no matter what. I have some messages and pictures in those messages from a dear friend that I didnt want to lose. I confirmed with someone that i could use an OTG cable and a keyboard to type it in so i order one from Amazon, it arrives tomorrow. Hopefully it works.

Push Samsung SideSync from Play Store to your phone, then get the SideSync for your PC. Plug the phone in. You can make the phone screen appear on your PC screen and unlock it that way. This doesn't need debugging, but it does need your phone connected to internet for pushing the app.

That will work if SideSync is already on the phone. If not then you have to first unlock the phone in order to download and install SideSync. Even unlocked that will be kind of hard without a display to navigate the phone.

I used the OTG adapter that comes with the S7 and plugged in a USB keyboard. It worked.
To unlock the phone with a PIN:
* Hit a key on the keyboard to wake up the phone
* Wait maybe a half second for the PIN entry dialog to come up
* Enter the numeric PIN
* Hit the Enter key
The trick was knowing when the S7 was ready to start entering the PIN. Starting too soon and the PIN was not entered and waiting too long caused the S7 to go back to sleep.

You can then use the S7's USB cable to connect it to a PC. The S7's storage will show up on the PC. You can copy files from the S7 to the PC.

For example on my PC the S7 shows up as a Portable Device called SAMSUNG-SM-930A.
Note this device will appear empty unless the S7 is unlocked.

Nope. As long as the phone is connected to the internet you don't even need to touch it to install apps. Just go to Play Store on your PC browser, login with the same Google account as you have on your phone. Click install. The phone will automatically download the app without you touching it at all. This feature has been on all Android phones since like 2.3 Gingerbread at least.
