Response with Samsung about new OS update

Here is what i got chatting with Samsung:

Raymond: Our software department are under the process of releasing a new upgrade for this device.

Raymond: I'm sorry for the delay.

Raymond: When an update is made available, this support page will contain information on how to obtain the update and however you will get a notification on to your device as it is an over the air update.

Visitor: when you say upgrade..what do you mean..i just had an update today but it wasnt an "OS" update...will it be an "os" update

Raymond: I'm sorry for the miscommunication, I'm referring to the OS update for your phone.

You just posted this exact same thing in another thread. If you read the forums, you'll see that at least 50 other people have already posted the transcript of their conversation with Samsung. The responses have all been basically the same...worthless.

Jj read my signature. People think they have something important and are excited to share it. You know you didnt have to read the post. Remember you have the freedom to NOT click the link. Its hard I know.

But as far as what the OP posted that seems to be the general concensus. 2.2 will come. They are just taking their own sweet time about it. Have patience or get a Droid X

Didn't mean to sound so irritated. I guess it's a side effect of refreshing the forums every few minutes in hopes of finding some tiny morsel of new information, all the while knowing that I'm not going to get Froyo any faster .

Hey I understand that. I learned with the Eris that I need to just adopt that "Give Up" attitude until something happened. Well something eventually happened and the wait stopped bothering me after I "Gave Up" hope lol. Just had to learn to be happy with my phone that actually functioned even though it was not the latest and greatest.

Then a few months later it exploded and I got a Fascinate and a Droid X.

Yep, pretty much, and this one is even more useless than most. Since all it mentions is "upgrade" vs. "OS update", without any specifics (2.1, 2.2, Eclair, FroYo, etc.), it's impossible to determine what anyone is talking about.

And as we've seen in the past, whatever any company rep. says in these chat sessions is most likely wrong, uninformed or an outright lie.

So please people, stop wasting your, our and Samsung's time on this issue. They'll give us our lousy .1 (that's POINT one) version update whenever they get around it, and you can rest assured, that'll be the last official update the phone will ever receive. That's life, but the reality is, the phone works perfectly well right now on 2.1 DL09, and 2.2 isn't going to provide any meaningful new capabilities.

Crying about 2.2 is like crying that your toaster isn't being upgraded to a new version that looks, acts and toasts bread exactly the same as your current one.

Just think about all the people who jumped and had to have a 2010 GT Mustang and then to find out six months later that the 2011 is going to have a 5.0 with 412 horse power over the 4.6 315 in horse power?!?! guess what?!?! They are owners till that last payment is made or they trade it in for the "upgrade". I have had this phone for 4 months and compared to the Storm Its 100 times faster and way more fun. Just my .02
