Restore deleted video?

Hi guys.

I just got my Galaxy a few days ago, Friday. I'm new to Android basically coming off of my "dumb" phone of 5 years. I can post pics if you guys want.

So anyways, is there a way to recover lost videos? I have been Google'ing around and I know there are solutions out there, using recovery programs and such. Essentially I took a video, it went to my gallery, then I deleted it on accident.

When I use programs such as Recuva or Stellar my phone doesn't pop up for scan since it isn't under USB mass storage. I really don't want to root if it voids my warranty.

Just to clarify...I'm assuming the video was stored on the internal memory and not on an external micro sd card? If it was on an external micro sd I would suggest just taking it out of the phone and putting it in an adapter (either usb or sd) and try to recover from it that way.

I have also had GREAT success with EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard Professional.

You don't really have a lot of options. If it were me I'd mount the device in a custom recovery and scan with a PC file recovery app.

Whenever you 'delete' anything from a computer (or in this case, a smartphone) it doesn't go anywhere. It's essentially hidden and the space it is taking up is flagged as writable. The file isn't gone until it is written over. There's drive wiping programs which basically fill writable space with crud than wipe it, even than there's a small chance it can be recovered. You can't really get rid of HDD data unless you literally destroy the physical drive lol.

One of Jellybean's new features is the ability to "undo" a delete. Nice of them to include that for future accidents.

Still looking into the situation. Honestly the video is not really in need, but I still would like to find some way of restoring it.

Plus that Jelly Bean "restore" thing would be an amazing addition for future brain farts.

You should read through the link in post #7 -- but the tool mentioned there is NOT a Samsung-specific tool; instead, it is a generic file recovery tool. And, I should tell you, that I have tried several tools trying to recover files from SD cards, and they generally have not worked well. If the file is on the INTERNAL memory, I believe there is no way to recover it.

There is NO PC Based software that will restore any file on any Android system since Google released ICS. Google removed Mass Storage from the OS. For any PC based software to work the phone would need to mount in Mass Storage which now CAN NOT be done on the Internal SD.

You should also post how much the software cost. It is not free it cost $49.95. I did download the trial version and it seems to work.

That's my situation. I've downloaded Dr. Fone & although I can connect, the 'Analyze" part does not complete so I cannot scan. It tries alternatives, over & over, & my phone restarts over & over ...(I wrote to their support team). I'm going nuts, accidentally deleted concert pics & have to recover them !! I tried Stellar Phoenix & Remo Recover but neither worked cuz I can't acess mass usb storage.
In developer options I checked usb debugging ...

Any solutions that require USB Mass Storage mode aren't going to work - Google removed support for that in the recent versions of Android.

I've used DiskDigger http://market.android.com/details?id=com.defianttech.diskdigger but it requires the phone to be rooted.
