Restore is Deleting photo from google photos

Hi,

I have recently bought a new phone and did not transfer any photos over as they were all backed up on google photos. I have logged in to google photos and can view them all fine but I would like to download a few to my new phone to edit and upload to other sites etc.

The problem is there is certainly no download button and when hitting the restore button sometimes the photo downloads to the phone and deletes the copy on google photos. This is not what I want and just want another copy on the new phone.

I cannot see why some (the majority of) photos would do this and others wouldnt....

Welcome to Android Central! Restoring a photo that's in your Google Photos cloud back to the phone's local storage should not delete it from the cloud. Are you confirming that the photo's gone from the cloud by going to photos.google.com on your computer browser?
