I had high hopes for this phone and unfortunately it let me down. Used to have the Inspire and it's definitely an upgrade over that, but still has too many issues. The random restarts are ridiculous, battery life can't compare to my iPhone or a Blackberry I used to have, call quality sucked in comparison as well. Also, the text messages being out of order is annoying to say the least. Build quality was awful on mine as the plastic housing and battery cover were messed up. The Vivid is the best I've used for Internet browsing and a great camera. I wish the other problems would've been worked out before its release cause I really wanted to keep it.

The out of order texts is starting to drive me nuts. Did you receive the same text two to three times in a row like mine is starting to do? I almost exchanged mine for the Skyrocket today. I bought the iPhone 4 originally and switched to the Vivid. Every time I look at my wife or brother's iPhone 4s' makes me think that maybe I should give the evil Apple another shot. Very torn because I've had an android device for about 4 years now but really like the size and design of the iPhone. I might just have to swallow the restock fee and the $30 i spent on a Zagg shield and get the 4s like i had wanted from the get-go. Does anyone else out there have the same or similar issues?

Had the same issue plus the plastic in the front had pulled away from screen. I returned mine for skyrocket. Had I not been dead set on a white phone I would have gone for the LG Nitro with the mice HD screen. Prior to the vivid I had the 4s for 4 days was boring after having android I thought.

I had it for only six days and had that many issues, no telling what else could've came up in time. My iPhone 4 runs like a champ with incredible battery life. It is kind of boring though..

Calls on the 4s are crystal clear. I actually had to turn the volume down while talking to my wife. I have ALWAYS had a hard time hearing her while having a conversation on my last three htc phones with the volume at max and mashing the phone against my head. And it would be nice to buy a pair of jeans without having to worry if my phone will fit in the pocket.:-\

returned my vivid also after a week of owning it,I did not like sense 3.0 overall even though it had a few nice features, kept getting duplicate text messages, and the phone was just to heavy.I now got a white skyrocket and lovin it.

First time post on AC....longtime blackberry user here. (if my u/n didn't give it away)
I've been feeling the "droid pull" for a while and I'm thinking I don't wanna go down with the ship so......
I'm looking for a device to purchase outright...until my upgrade sometime next Aug.
I have an opportunity to pick up a Vivid for $300...whatya think?
This thread isn't giving me a warm fuzzy feeling about the Viv.....

If you check the build quality of it and it's all good then I'd still say go for it cause that's a good deal. As long as you're able to charge it 2-3 times a day.

Did you have the white or the black model? I am on my second white vivid and the housing is also separating on it and I want to know if the is only an issue with the white or with both.

I did the same thing on the 22nd. I just never got over the way it felt in my hand. It was so awkward and heavier than I felt it needed to be. My friends with HTC phones raved about build quality and developer support, but I guess this phone is an exception because that battery door annoyed me to no end and I seem to recall HTC saying it wouldn't lock its bootloaders anymore and that didn't quite happen. I returned it and got the LG NitroHD, which has an even better screen and I already have it permanently rooted. I do miss the notification light on the Vivid, but it's a small tradeoff for a device that just works better for me. It's quirky, but I also don't have Sense crashing every time I reboot.
