Returning a slightly damaged Evo 4G under Sprints 30 day 'Sprint Free Guarantee'

So I got an Evo 4G a couple weeks ago, and I'm thinking about returning it under the 30 day 'get all your money back' thing Sprint has. Only problem is I did drop the phone, and there are a couple of small marks on the plastic bezel.

Whats their policy on that? Are they going to try to get me to buy another phone just because of that 'damage' in order to take advantage of their 30 day free program?

I did get the $7/month insurance plan...so I don't know if that helps my case at all.

Thanks for any info.

It is my understanding that you have to return the phone in "LIKE NEW" :( condition. So they may inspect it & see the marks & not accept it. I don't think the insurance pays for just dings, I think it has to be lost, stolen, or damaged to where it cant be used, then there is the whole deductible that you would be responsible for.

And if you do an insurance claim to get a new one then you are stuck with the phone and can not return it anyways. I learned that the hard way when I wanted to return the hero after a week and it fell in the toilet the night before I was going to return it.

SOL! I feel you tho man. I have an evo with the screen lifting on right/bottom side and have been planning on going to radio shack to get it replaced. But they haven't had any in stock so I haven't bothered going in. But then today I freakin dropped it like a dummy without a case and caused a big ass dent on the top left corner of the phone and am probably screwed. Guess I'm gonna have to pay a 100 deductible ....

I would try to return it anyways, you may luck out and they will take it back. Wont hurt to try, if you dont want to keep the phone.

Yeah it's suppose to be in "Like New" condition.... Because I had a Nexus One and sold it two weeks before the EVO came out.... I asked Best Buy if I could get another phone and then just exchange it for the EVO and they said "YES" as long as the phone does not have any damage, had not been dropped to where we can physically tell it was dropped... So I picked up a Hero and paid $14 to put a screen protector on it AND bought a case for the sucker. They gave me my money back on the case but not on the screen protector.. Which I thought was better than scratching the phone and not being able to return it.....

Ive returned a blackberry before. The rep didnt even look at the phone. I told her it was freezing, but I really returned it because I dropped it. I made sure to keep talking about random stuff to keep her occupied during the transaction lol

So I just got the epic 4g touch and dropped it the other day, and now it has some dings on the corners. sprint has crappy service in my area and i wanted to return it. do you think that i can just pay the $100 deductible and they will take it back?

anyone have newer stories about this topic?

thanks.

Once you file a claim & pay the deductible, you can't return it.
