Returns

So I have a bit of an issue. I returned my S20 Ultra. When I requested the return via Samsung, I selected my phone but not the preorder items because I didn’t think I needed to select the preorder accessories too. Well they’ve had my return since Wednesday and there’s been no change in the status. So I went on an online chat and they told me that they will now have to put in a ticket since I shipped back the phone and my preorder bonus accessories, and that I was supposed to check them all.

Obviously I’m super frustrated with Samsung. There’s a part of me that wonders if they should even have to open up a ticket in this case. I even asked them to just ship it all back to me and they said they couldn’t do that.

Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced something like this with Samsung and what the result was.

I'm about to place my return too, the rep told me to put everything with a separate label and it will all be refunded back to me.

Here's hoping for a smooth transition.

Good luck!
I returned my S20+ in the same box it was shipped to me in, a day after receiving it. Samsung tech said to return. So, I returned it, they accepted it and three days later they said they are sending it back, but will NOT tell me why it is coming back. They have accepted the buds with no problem.

I have already informed their customer relations I will NOT accept the package and it will be returned. They don't care. But they also refuse to tell me why it is being returned. Tried to tell me there is a note in the return box and only way I will find out is by accepting delivery and reading the note.
Really? To return and item I'm sure there is a document in the office that states why it is being returned.

I guess we'll see where it goes from here. But I have already placed a hold on my card since I do NOT have the phone and NEVER will have the phone. Not sure what they are trying to do, but this old guy does not like it at all.

And I will say, all I did was connect to the internet, sign in under my google account, and I could not register my thumb print, regardless of what I tried. I didn't even pull off the plastic on the back, and only pulled it up on the front, never installed a SIM card...

So I called Tech, they had me reboot and go through the process again and it still would not work. So he suggested I return it, transferred me to customer assistance, they produced a return and a FedEx label (I printed from my account) and I noted it was a return for credit no exchange. Not going through this BS twice.

So I did a factory reset, placed all the stuff back in the box, then placed it in the same shipping box with all the same air bubble stuff, and took it to the FedEx depot. The depot, as normal, inspected the box for damage, asked what was in it, gave me a receipt and that was it. A few days later, received an email the package was received and they about three days later they said it was an Unsuccessful Return and was being shipped back with NO reason why in an email.

I called customer assistance now I'm just waiting for a shipping notice; although it will be a waste of Samsung's money.

I find this very strange on their part.

Gong to be an interesting and fun few upcoming weeks.

Did u sign out of your google and Samsung accounts before factory reset?

I have never signed off from Google and Samsung accounts manually. Just factory data reset automatically does that and while doing that it'll automatically ask device password because it's encrypted and followed by Samsung password on Samsung phones. I have sold so many phones before or traded in and never once I have manually logged off Samsung and Google account. As part of factory data reset it does automatically and after factory reset I just verify by going thru the few setup screens to make sure it doesn't ask for any of my account passwords.

We have had this discussion many times and yes I agree that it's still safe to do before resetting and some people have had this issue for whatever reason. It's just that I have never done that and it never occurs me to do that.

No. I just did a factory reset. I have sold a few phones on Swappa and always did just a factory reset. The Samsung rep did note to make sure to do a 'factory reset' prior to sending the phone back.

I always thought a factory reset takes the phone back to what it was when it was sent to me from the factory.

As for the Samsung account I sign into that via my google account.

Well there were a couple of issues on here with trade ins towards the Note 10s if I recall so I think it pays to so. At the minimum if you don't sign out I recommend at least verifying that's it's not locked by skipping past some of the initial set up screens.

I sold a phone and forgot to sign out of my google before i factory reset. They person who brought it had to mail the phone back to me so i could unlock it, because he couldn't use the phone even though i factory reset it. So now i always sign out before hand. I always thought it was a built in safety so someone couldn't just take your phone and wipe it to use for themselves.

You factory reset in recovery or settings?

I'm going to say last thing about this, since it's like beating a dead horse. People having issues probably by mistake just did reset settings instead of factory reset since factory reset is a feature designed to wipe everything off the face of the earth and if it needs confirmation it'll ask the necessary passwords needed for the device or accounts before factory reset starts.

But yes absolutely feel free to log out of the accounts since it's not hurting anything, but if you didn't and you did the factory reset option instead of generic reset you are good to go and don't worry. But if you haven't sent your trade in device yet and reading the thread, sure take extra precaution and do the logout of accounts.

Yep even if you think you did factory reset, may be you just did reset. Things happen we are all humans and lots of things going on in life. And some people (not people in these forums) honestly don't know about all these various options and differences between just reset and factory reset etc.
