Rezound Getting Hot and Draining Battery

So a few days ago, I went into the google play store and updated about 27 apps. I usually don't update my apps that don't need it, but I thought 'Hey, why the heck not?'

Ever since doing this, I've been getting this extremely annoying technical problem. ANY TIME I have mobile turned on on the phone (3G or 4G LTE), my battery drains in about an hour or two. If I turn mobile network off, my battery life goes right back to normal. The phone itself also gets REALLY hot while it does this. So hot in fact, that I cannot comfortably keep it in my pocket (starts hurting and making my leg sweat).

Things I have tried:
Advanced Task Killer - Didn't help
Turned off everything BUT data (including location services, bluetooth, auto-sync, etc) - Didn't help
Restarted phone (battery pull) - Didn't help
Hard Reset - Didn't help

Checking Verizon's website, my data usage is almost at 2 gigs. It was barely past 300 MB four or five days ago.

Any know what to do?

You clearly have something running that is keeping the phone awake and transferring data... I would install GSAM Battery Monitor and you should be able to see what is draining the battery quickly. Also, if you go to Settings-Usage and scroll down you should be able to see what has been using the data.

If worst comes to worst, then just backup essential information and factory default.

I found out the problem was the facebook app. Every other app / game / etc works completely fine. Any time I install facebook and add my account, this same problem starts. It is completely remedied by removing the app entirely. Nothing else causes this problem. I re-installed essentially everything I wiped with the reset. I have tried removing it and adding a fresh install, and I have tried removing it and installing an earlier version (downgraded from 3.1 to 2.3.). Neither works. In fact if I install the app and don't log into my account, this doesn't happen. I have tried modifying all power settings inside the app as well. It only occurs when I LOG IN to my facebook account under the accounts and settings tab.

Do you think restoring to factory default will fix this? Is factory default different than erase all content and settings? Facebook is probably my most commonly used app. It sucks not having it.

Is it the actual Facebook app, or Facebook for HTC Sense? I would recommend disabling the later... Also, lots of people have had issues with Facebook Messenger causing battery drain and heat buildup because it keeps the device from sleeping. I use the FB all the time, and never have battery drain issues, other than with the time I waste looking at the screen. Are all the Facebook syncs completing when your signed in, and set to reasonable intervals (every 8-24 hours), or is one getting "stuck"?

Worst case scenario, a factory default is always a good idea for such things.

I uninstalled facebook for HTC sense. Uninstalled messenger. All I've tested it with i the main facebook app. It starts happening as soon as I install any version of the app itself, but only if I log into my account.
I don't know what you mean by one getting 'stuck.' The update interval is set to the max it can be before never.

Facebook is another account on the phone, it syncs data similar to how it syncs with Active Sync or Google, it is possible that it is getting stuck in the the initial sync due to some kind of "invalid" information in one of those records and holding the phone awake and draining the battery. A factory default MAY help, it certainly can't hurt to determine if it is an app conflict in the phone or something with the app itself.

Have you tried another FB alternative app, such as Atrium, Friendcaster, Stream, or FAST? That maybe the valid alternative.

Yeah I've been using Seesmic but I don't like it.
