I will check it out. I have not found a player to even come CLOSE to the sound quality I get with Poweramp, but I'm always looking for something better

Poweramp is crackly on my phone for some reason. There is a lot of functionality tho.

Is sound quality affected by the music player. Isn't sound processing done elsewhere?

So I've been using this Pro Player the last 24 hours - it's pretty good. Much better than stock, but the sound I'm getting from Poweramp still far exceeds what Pro Player is offering. And while parts of the interface are nicer than Poweramp, I still do prefer PA over PP. I will give it another couple of days, try and tweak some of the settings but it's not different enough (or improved enough) for me to spend any additional money on a music player when PA does the job very well.

On another token, I was running CM7 and then CM9 on my DX prior to buying this phone. One of the settings in CM gave you the ability to have text and email notifications play OVER the music, rather than stop the music entirely and then go back to it when the tone was done. Is there any way to do that with this phone or is that a mod not included in the stock software?

Sound processing is done in the DSP. Think of it as a sound card. The Rezound actually has standalone DSP hardware unlike most other phones.

I've only seen this in one ROM on the Rezound and I personally didn't like it. I unfortunately don't remember which one it was.. probably because it wasn't an option, it just worked like that.
