Hi,

I added my hotmail account as an exchange account. However, for some reason I cannot change the mail format in the Rezound's native email app from text to html. Is anyone having this issue or know a solution to this? Thanks.

I can not set up my personal email from my internet provider!! Gmail seems to only work sometimes!!

I couldn't find a solution so I stopeed using the native HTC app for exchange and just downloaded the official Hotmail app which works fine. I didn't want to but couldn't find any other solution.

I can't add any of my email accounts unless I use the "Other" mail app. I keep getting "Getting Toke Failed" error messages.

yeah the htc app works when it feels like it on mine. They better fix this or this phone will be useless for me. E-mail is as basic as it gets for a smartphone. If they can't get that right, what can they do?

I seem to be having problems sending email.
It's weird because if I send from an imap acct to gmail, it gets there. But if I send to any other address it seems to send, but never arrives. I can use webmail and it goes through.
When I sent an picture as an attachment, that worked, but nothing else.

confused...

I'm having issues with the native HTC Rezound email app too. Specifically, I added my Hotmail account, but it never seems to mirror my actual Hotmail account. For example, I deleted several messages last night and all today it showed 14 new messages that I know I deleted. I also can't seem to access any of my folders in Hotmail through the app, even though they're "checked" within settings to sync with the account.

As for Gmail (which I thought would sync perfectly) it also seems to be slightly... off. Similar problems as identified above with my Hotmail account.

Anyone have a solution?

I'd really like to use the native app feature where everything is pulled in together and easy to navigate.

My last phone (Palm Pre) had no issues with blending multiple email accounts whatsoever... this is really frustrating...

Okay - I think I found the solution to my own question. Since the native email app "Hotmail" link was giving me so much trouble, I deleted the account and then set it up again as an exchange account with the following directions from windowslive help:

Instructions for default mail client

Account settings and their level of support will vary across Android phones. While the steps to configure push email with synced contacts and calendar will vary, we have found these steps to work across a number of phones:

1. Select Email client on phone.
2. Press menu and select Add account
3. Enter full Hotmail address: e.g. username@hotmail.com or username@live.com
4. Enter password
5. Select Manual setup
6. Select Exchange when prompted for ?What type of account is this??
7. Domain/Username, enter full Hotmail address: e.g. username@hotmail.com. (Note: if the device only says ?Domain?, it should be left blank. If the device says ?Username?, then enter the full Hotmail address. On some devices, the Domain/Username may be pre-populated incorrectly and should be erased.
8. Type in password. (may already be filled in)
9. Server name. Enter: m.hotmail.com for server name. (Note: this field may be pre-populated incorrectly depending on device).
10. Make sure box Use secure connection (SSL) is checked.
11. Select Next
12. Select desired account options for inbox checking frequency, number of days to synchronize, send email by default, notifications and contacts/calendar sync. Select Next.
13. Depending on device you may be prompted for account color and account name (e.g. ?Hotmail?)
14. Select Next and your Hotmail is set-up and ready to go!

It appears to be working perfectly for me now... hopefully this helps someone else!

This one puzzles me - usually the HTC Android email client is best of breed due to the native ActiveSync they bake into Sense. Did anyone take the phone back to Verizon over the issue?

I had the same problem with the buggered up setups for hotmail and yahoo mail. Try a factory reset or if that doesn't work insist on a new phone because this is not normal. My second Rezound had no problem setting up these accounts using the canned setups. Your notifications will be custom color/icon notifications also.

Alas, the email/widget system is flawed in Sense. At least it was for me. Delayed emails and forced syncs were sometimes required. I recommend Kaiten which is a successor to K9 and it works flawlessly.

BTW I am typing on my Xoom which was just updated to ICS. I also briefly owned the Gnex but the failed radio required me to return it. Anyway I would gladly live with Sense.... I think sometimes having the newest software doesn't necessarily translate to a substantially improved experience. I do like the roboto font though. :-)

Interesting response from HTC...

Thank you for your inquiry regarding your Hotmail account on your HTC Rezound device from Verizon Wireless.

AA, I infer that your Hotmail account is a POP3 account on your phone.

The Mail application on our phones originally would keep a copy of all POP3 messages on the phone, even when deleted from the server.

When the devices were first updated to 2.2 firmware, the Mail application was changed to fix this issue, i.e., deleting mail from the server would delete the message from the phone as well.

Many customers did not like how the Mail application was changed, and as a result, the Mail application was changed again to behave as it did originally, i.e., if you delete a message from a POP3 server, the mail will stay on the phone.

This means that users must manually delete messages from the phone, or the messages will remain on the phone as long as the account is set to check mail on the server (default = 3 days).

In addition, POP3 folders on your device do not correspond to the folders for your account, nor do they reflect the account folders. Our native Mail application contains four folders: Inbox, Sent, Draft, and Trash.

If I have not addressed your concern, please include in your response a more detailed description of the issue, and specify whether your account is set up as a POP3 or an IMAP4 account. In addition, please include the IMEI and MEID of your device. To obtain this information, press Home > MENU and then tap Settings > About phone > Phone identity.

We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced.
