Hey guys, I currently have the razr but was considering making the switch to the rezound. I've read alot of posts comparing the GN to the rezound, but not the razr. What are the pros and cons of the rezound. What are the things that you don't like about it. Your info is much appreciated...thanks

Rezound is a great phone. Has a gorgeous screen and a removable battery. Plus it is unlockable and can be permanently rooted.

The fact that the razr is not unlocked yet is also making me lean towards the rezound. It doesn't look like its going to be any time soon either. I had the evo before this and was very pleased with the HTC experience.

Mine is unlocked, rooted, and debloated. I really like my Rezound. I can't really think of any negatives.

The only people who bash the rezound are the people who left the rezound for the Gnex and can't come back to the rezound....

Don't listen to them.... best phone out of the big three is the rezound...

Not only the spec's but the screen nailed it for me, Beats is a plus. No negatives other than Beats only with the music player, YouTube would be great with Beats but hopefully there's a fix soon.

personally i wouldn't even think twice over rezound vs razr. to me rezound vs gnex is actually a good choice.

razr=crappier display
razr=crappy camera
razr=no removable battery
razr=weird size for most people

these things are big to me and i would think to a lot of people. the screen is the thing you interact with the most. you really can't beat the rezounds screen and the gnex is a close 2nd.

phones are taking the place of our daily snapshot taker and the rezound handily wins that one. not everyone carries a spare battery around or wants an extended battery but the option is huge to me. i can keep a slim spare battery in my wallet (and i do, and did with my droidx) or glove compartment, with today's power hungry LTE HD phones this is a big deal. i have an extended battery as well and will use this when i know i will be without juice for longer than usual. razr? not even an option. it is on the gnex.

the rezound being unlocked now is a plus for the .1% of us that are power users.

i loved my moto droidx for its signal strength and loud clear earpiece and speaker, loud notifications. and i find my rezound equals or betters this. to me these are the fundamentals i still use my phone for a lot: good call quality, signal strength, a nice camera., good fit in hand. i am 5'10" with relatively big hands and the razr was also uncomfortable to hold although i suppose you get used to it but still. and i hated my droidx camera. it SUCKED. i couldn't wait to get to a phone with a camera that could stand in respectfully for a P&S in decent light. this rezound takes better photos indoors than my droidx did outdoors.

LOL - you tell em alcantarvf !

In answer to the OP, I've had all 3 and by far the little Rezound takes the cake. In a nutshell, the display on the Razr is just pitiful, but it's a surprisingly reliable (although boring) phone. The SGN is riddled with issues, ommisions, incompatibilities and bugs being a frontrunner. Some however, like that because it's a hoot to play with. I just don't have time to debug Samsung and Google products, plus pay the cell carrier for the pleasure on top of it all.

I had thought VZW would never allow HTC to unlock the bootloader, but dang if I wasn't proven wrong this week. Even better, it works. Toss in the best display so far of all the "Christmas" phones and the Rezound takes the prize this year

It depends what you're looking for. The rezound is good if you don't want stock android and don't want to have to deal with all the bugs that come with a new OS, because sense is so consumer friendly and generally stable. The RAZR is good if you don't mind a lower res screen in exchange for a great design and performance. The nexus is good if you are looking for frequent os updates and don't mind tinkering.

They each have different strengths, and it all comes down to what the user is looking for in a device. Bashing those with which you disagree, or claiming in a blanket statement that one is the best doesn't help anyone. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, and all will cater to be the 'perfect' device for them.

some of the selling points of the rezound was mainly two things. First was the Nexus didn't have a SD slot. And two the Razr didn't have a removable battery. I just cant see not having these two things so it was a done deal for me long before these came out to market.And after all that I really glad I chose the Rezound. Just like I was so satisfied with my incredible . I still have it cause I just cant bring myself to sell it. So i'm still flashing and playing with it.

Mine is still locked (so far) and bloated. But I still love it. And it's pretty FAST with all the crud. The camera, screen, and phone quality can't be topped.

The main issue with the Razr is the non-removable battery and lower res screen. It benchmarks as good as the Rezound and has comparable stats in most ways. The Razr has an RGB Super AMOLED display (a higher res version of what the Galaxy S2s have). The Razr probably has the best build quality of any Android phone release this year, but HTC's build quality is also very good.

The Rezound has the best Camera and the only "true" 720p display. While the Razr has deeper blacks, the Rezound has better color reproduction and higher resolution. Beats audio is a gimmick IMO, but the included earbuds are high enough quality that people are buying them on eBay. The Rezound has the best radio and awesome GPS. The only thing I dont like about it is that the buttons are a little too flush with the case, but I liked the way it felt much better than the Razr, even though the Razr is much thinner and lighter. As Vendor UIs go, Sense is superior to Motoblur IMO. I personally dont like any Vendor UIs though.

HTC is allowing you to unlock the bootloader "legally" on their site (I have done this to mine already, and it does work great). I am now Sense and bloat free, and the phone is even faster (it was already very snappy before). Motorola is unlikely to ever do this...they have been assholes when it comes to rooting.

Personally speaking, if you have a RAZR already I would save the money and just wait until summer or so when HTC cranks out a successor to the Rezound. It's a good phone but the thickness could use major improvement through reduced circuitry and instead shoe-horn a much larger capacity battery while overall having the same dimensions.

Phil & the boys from the AC Podcast voted the Razr "Cellphone of the Year" on the end of year podcast.

The RAZR's screen is closer to that of the original galaxy s instead of the s2. It has the pentile matrix and is rgbg.

The rezound's camera is about the same as the RAZR's. Same for the radio. The biggest differentiator between the two is the screen.

Also, sense sucks compared to motoblur. It's a giant resource hog. It doesn't matter what it adds to the experience, if it slows down what is otherwise stellar hardware. Even though Motoblur is a full skin, it's much lighter weight and much more resource friendly than sense could ever be.

Motorola does what the carriers ask. They have been asked not to allow unlocked boot loaders, so they haven't. Their stance is no different than HTC's.

HTC does allow bootloader to be unlocked unlike Motorola. So we can root and remove sense if we want. Personally I like Sense, I don't think it slows anything.

And HTC's official position is that they do not want their bootloaders unlocked, and will defer to the carrier. That hasn't changed.

Well said. Each of us have different requirements. I am a heavy user and go through two batteries a day. I am not a developer though and appreciate what other developers have done for me, and, if I ever get the itch to change my Rezound (root), it now appears that will be possible.

I love the Rezound for all it does right now and for changeable batteries and a micro SD card for all my music.
