Rezound vs Galaxy Nexus

No, because I was running cm7 on the bml kernel and then flashed the mtd cm7 build. It was night and day difference in speed, smoothness and performance, both on cm7. One was an optimized kernel and the other wasn't. I'm sorry my friend, but optimization makes ALL the difference.

Well that just means that everything is optimized, because in order to get stuff to run on other chipsets, etc, the companies need to optimize the software for it. So once more, when you say that ICS is "optimized" for the Nexus's hardware, it doesn't mean anything because when the Rezound gets ICS it will necessarily be optimized for it too.

I have the Rezound and I hate it. Sense is just horrible, I actually like Blur better!!! Wish I rented the Razr instead but that's Motorola's fault.

Or maybe stock Android was just better than your skinned Android. Correlation does not equal causation.

And plus, anything with a skin isn't, and can't be, optimized for smoothness and performance like Google does with pure android. A skin brings a more friendly UI and increased usability (for technologically slower people) at the cost of performance.

Not so with Samsung's Touchwiz, which reviewers such as Engadget say is more smooth on the Galaxy S 2 than ICS is on the Nexus.

That's not actually what they said.

What they actually said was that the lack of adaptation by third party apps to ICS' hardware acceleration was the reason for a perceived (note: NOT actual) difference in speed. They never said it was more smooth; they only said it was perceived to be faster.

No, because they will be writing code for a pre-existing hardware setup. The nexus hardware wasn't pre-existing, it was custom selected for the code. And plus, OMAP is the lead platform for ICS. Snapdragon, besides being the lower-end of processors, will also probably be the most difficult platform to optimize for ICS. And it still can't be optimized like the nexus because it wasn't a device built around ICS like the nexus was. And if you can't see that it's because you don't want to and I can't tell you anything else. It's just truth bro.

This is exactly right, but he's just arguing for the rezound because he wants it to be better because he either already got one or is going to get one.

"Ice Cream Sandwich isn't just a new version of Google's mobile OS, it's what happens when Android hits the gym and becomes lean and mean. That being said, the Galaxy Note, with its dual-core 1.4GHz Exynos processor and optimized build of Samsung's TouchWiz 4.0 UI, still wins in terms of perceived speed. Getting the most performance from Android 4.0 requires a few tweaks. Not all the live wallpapers are fully optimized (for example, Phase Beam is, but Water isn't). Developers have to add a single line of code to their apps to take advantage of 2D hardware acceleration"

What they said is that the apps weren't using hardware acceleration, which merely put the two operating systems on the same playing field (And Touchwiz won), since gingerbread doesn't have hardware acceleration. If Samsung "optimizes" their skinned ICS to the same level as their current skinned Gingerbread, it will still defeat the Nexus even with its hardware acceleration.

Perceived. Speed. That first word is extremely important. It doesn't mean the Note is any faster, nor does it mean it is 'smoother'.

As for the second part: Did you fail reading comprehension as a child? Touchwiz has tweaks that take advantage of hardware acceleration and other methods to make the OS appear smoother than it actually is. ICS, at this point, only has limited acceleration because it is still too new. Where Touchwiz has it all over, ICS's apps are still having it implemented. So no, Touchwiz and Note do not win; as a matter of fact, the fact that ICS DOESN'T have full acceleration implemented yet and is still very nearly as good is a very bad sign for touchwiz.

You're not seeing the point: NO device will be optimized like a nexus will because with a nexus, the software is the building block and the hardware is added to it. With every non-nexus device, the hardware already exists and you have to try and get the software to work as well as you can with hardware that isn't ideal. But you want to believe what you want to believe so be happy with your rezound. But plain and simple, both on ICS, the rezound is an inferior device.

The optimized word just seems a little over exaggerated. The Nexus is smooth but even IT has little bugs and hang ups. Like i said to the OP. You basically have to choose Hardware over Software #1. and if your going to be rooting. Imo the Rezounds hardware is better than the Nexus. Yes the platic isn't cheap, but the Rezound is definitely sturdier. Nexus runs stock but if you plan to root, you'll eventually get ICS on the Rezound. and be able to overclock to 2.0 + GHZ. You really can't go wrong.

I'm done. If we had documented proof, you would still refuse to accept the truth because you want to believe the rezound is better. No point in continuing, beating a dead horse.

Firstly, perceived speed is all that matters, as it's the speed that is tangible and effects your user experience. What other speed is there? Benchmarks? Well Samsung wins there too.

And secondly, as to hardware acceleration, do you think that third party apps are changing their codes to be able to use hardware acceleration for Touchwiz? Certainly not. They'll take long enough just to saturate for ICS. So what that merely means is that once more, the two are on the same playing field, as the the launcher and custom apps for Touchwiz and for ICS are both using hardware acceleration, and third party apps are not. So Touchwiz still wins.

Less impressive screen, less impressive chipset, smaller battery, no NFC. What about the rezound's hardware is better?

You're not seeing the point, because according to Engadget, Touchwiz has superior optimization with gingerbread than the Nexus does with ICS.

Key word, being "if". I'm sure they will at some point though. As long as they stick w/ Exynos and don't outsource the chipsets. Crap like the S3, is a no go in the acceleration dept.

The funny thing is I'm the one who has documented proof (Engadget) and you're the one not accepting it.

Except your 'proof' actually proves that you don't know what you're talking about, and can't read.

If that's the case then rebuke my latest rebuttal. Otherwise you're just resorting to making claims and then using ad hominems to try and fight me off because you know you've been defeated.

The Rezounds lack of 3axis gyroscope, barometer, NFC, on screen buttons, 4.6" screen, still have me leaning toward the GN. Plus full bloat and sense? For me the hardware is lacking and so is the software with the skin and bloat even with ICS once it gets it.

To be frank the Rezound is just another Android phone that's barely distinguishable from its current competition. I think its a great phone but I'm ready for the GN for some real change (mostly the OS but the hardware is nice too).
