So, I have air pod pro's which I do love using with my Pixel 5.. I love the house cancellation, the fit and finish of them and the battery life of them. Recently within the last week or so I repaired my pixel buds to my phone. Put both earbuds in my ear, and only music from my left side came out. Repaired my pixel buds on my phone a few times and tried them on my laptop as well. Right bud is dead unfortunately. Thank God I have my AirPod pros. That's all I can say!

Did you already try doing a factory reset of the Pixel Buds? Also, if you have the Bass Boost feature on, try turning that off -- that caused problems for my Buds.

Yeah I’ve tired factory resetting them a few times. I was hopping that it would fix the issue. Still, only my left side bud works. It’s just really weird. Thanks though!

I finally purchased the A series to replace my Pixel Buds 2, due to the microphones crapping out on them 2 months after the warranty expired.

In addition to the things I knew I would lose (wireless charging, volume control on the buds), my connection is not nearly as good as it was on my Buds 2. I could walk from one side of the house to the other (about 40 feet), and they stayed connected. With the A series, they drop out about halfway across. Google is hopefully sending me a replacement on advanced return, to see if it's an issue with these buds, but I've also ordered a pair of JBL Tour Pro+, which has wireless charging, Google Assistant activation by voice, and ANC. I'll see how those compare.

Any news on your buds?

Hey there! Nah, honestly, I love my AirPods pros to death! Besides, my pixel buds are out of warranty Google won't help me out at all. I love the noise cancellation, the battery life the connectivity of the AirPods pros everything. I was noticing some Bluetooth audio connectivity cut out issues like others experience with my pixel buds in the past though. I tried to dismiss them as much as I could, but one bud wouldn't work sometimes it would work etc etc

I'm still having that problem with the A series, hence my trying out the JBL. You would think Google would bring some improvements on things like connectivity with a new version, wouldn't you? And honestly, thinking back in my entire period using the Pixel Buds 2, it always seemed we were waiting for the latest update to correct this or that. Almost felt like we were using a beta product.

My JBL buds are set to arrive tomorrow. Can't wait to try them out. Fortunately Amazon has a long return policy now, until the end of January, so maybe by then I'll have my replacement buds from Google to compare them side by side.

Here's a link to the JBL on Amazon.

Hey, thanks very much dude! Yeah, when my wife bought my pixel bud twos during the pandemic for me, I was excited as all hell to use them and try them out. At the gym, the Bluetooth connection not more than a few inches maybe a foot for my phone would cut out. I would drop Bluetooth signal very often which drove me nuts. I never had the issue where if I turned my head a certain way my music would drop. However, with one earbud dropping audio all the time it just got so annoying. I would always have to either go back into my locker to re-sync the earbuds, or repair them numerous numerous times that I just got to be too much for me.

Also, one earbud always drained the battery much faster than the other earbud. Yes, I know that Google engineers have said that This was purely by design, and because one earbud would be more dominant for Google Assistant etc etc. But when you have one earbud at 50% in the other one and 75 to 80% on a daily basis, that's annoying. At first I was more than willing to deal with it, but one year but would just die much faster than the other one. My AirPod Pros in comparison drain battery consistently at the same exact rate which is nice.

Yeah, you would think that Google would do a slightly better job of developing that kind of a product. I mean I love Google like the rest of us, but when I found my AirPod Pros I was like wow the audio/call experience is a great, and the battery life is phenomenal. Not going to lie, there's sort of making me rethink iOS in general lol but in all seriousness, they do sound great and they perform great. With noise cancellation turned on battery life is still great, and it's just a great overall experience. I wish you the best of luck with your JBL earbuds! You'll have to let us know how you like them!

Just to be sure, your Buds A updated their firmware, right? And you already tried a factory reset?

I'm still waiting on my replacement A series buds to see if the Bluetooth connection is any better, but in the meantime I did get the JBL Tour Pro+ buds on Friday, so I've been taking them on a spin this weekend.

First and foremost, I don't have any dropouts on my walks. Have been on two, and not a single drop in over an hour of walking. I can walk away from my phone at least twice the distance I could with my A Series.

While the A Series are more comfortable in my ear, these aren't awful. They do stick out of my ear more. See photos. It took quite a while to get a good fit. It comes with a small fin, but I replaced that with a ring that has no fin, and it seemed to work better. They definitely don't drop out, even on my walks, or when shaking my head. The app has a process to check the fit of your buds, which is a nice feature.

Sound quality is amazing, definitely an improvement over the A series. The app has the ability to create your own EQ profile.

I have wireless charging back on these, but it is VERY slow.

ANC is a nice feature, still getting 5 to 6 hours of time with it on.

So, if I ever get a replacement for my A series, I'll do a proper comparison, to see which one I'll keep. Nice that Amazon has their holiday return policy in place. I have until the end of January to return the JBL buds.
