Ringer on crack?

I can't hardly believe this is normal but when my phone rings, no matter what ringer I have selected, there's almost ZERO space between the rings. Just a standard sounding ring will happen like 5 times in 2 seconds super fast back to back and it just keeps going that way until I answer. Is that somehow normal for this phone or do I have one of a kind here?
