Ringtone and notifications changing randomly

I've had my 3d since launch date, and in the last month or so it's developed a bug that changes every ringtone and notification sound when I restart the phone. Last night it actually did it on it's own. At first I thought it was Zedge, so I uninstalled it. Then Handscent. Still no luck. Only thing I can think of left in my bag is a factory reset. It's driving me a little crazy now. I work in a position that dictates my phone be on and that I hear it, but also that you'd want to maintain a certain decorum in regard to the tones you choose. It always seems to pick the most obnoxious songs on my playlist to switch to.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried clearing your cache? I had an issue where my vibrate notification kept stopping, and clearing the cache fixed the problem.

My ringtone has changed a few times recently for no apparent reason as well. How do you clear the cache?

My EVO 3D did the same thing today. I noticed that my battery went from 100% to 33% in 2.5 hours which is REALLY unusual. (My battery usually lasts a good 6-8 hours) I restarted my phone and when my fiance' called me, her ringtone had changed. I haven't noticed anything else irregular.

For me, I believe I just went into Settings>SD & phone storage then selected 'Make more space.' In there, select 'All application' and hit next.

That's what worked for me and the issue of my vibrate notification turning off.

Mine was doing that a month or so ago. I never could find out the reason, but it stopped doing it on its own.

Has something to do with the location of em on the sdcard, sometimes my phone will do it, sometimes not, and its not random songs, its normally the first song in my music folder...

While I'm unclear of the cause, I know that I'm not doing anything differently and it had never done that before. Nothing moved, nothing newly installed. It did it on its own again without restarting yesterday and I got frustrated enough to do the factory wipe. Now it's giving me fits applying updates like the prl.

I have always loved my Evos, but the Galaxy Nexus is sounding pretty good right now.

So far so good with the factory reset. Still don't think that should have been necessary, but I'm glad it seems okay now.

Good to hear. Mine has been doing this for over two-three months (on restart only), but it is a bug I could live with. I have been playing with the idea of a factory reset for the last few weeks, so this may be the info that pushes me over the edge to go ahead and do it.

Still working for you on restarts?
