Ringtone assignment from one rom to another

Is there any way to save the custom ringtone assignments I have setup in my contacts list so that I don't have to reassign them all individually when I change roms?!?!?

I haven't had the custom ringtones work in any ASOP rom in months. I have a custom one set for my wife, but it never works. I've set them for a few other people, but those haven't worked either. I've given up on custom ringtones since Mabilo disappeared. Hasn't for Liberty, Apex, Fission, GummyJar, or Rubix.

I can't see it being the hardware, but after the same results in that many ROMs, I have to wonder.

i use Zedge which works great! saves all your ringtones to your SD card: ....

I have actually moved ALL of my tones to the phones memory to fix an issue with them not working correctly. I just want a way to reassign the tones in my contacts after swapping roms, IE wiping cache/data, after moving them back. ;)

I haven't tried this but I was under the impression that since 3rd party apps do not read from the root directory you can not use the files in the internal memory.

UPDATE: You just made me test something, if you are rooted if you copy ringers to the root directory System >> Media >> Audio >> Ringtones or Notifications you can use them through default Settings >> Sounds

Heh, I could have told you that, I've been running all my custom tones, ringers alarms and notifications, from the phone's memory for a while now. I did take the extra precaution of converting them all to ogg files and made sure they had the same file permissions as the stock ones.

I don't mind having to recopy the files back into phone memory, it's just having to reassign all the tones in my considerable contact list. ;)

But this is my point I didn't convert any of my ringer or set anything special, I just copied my mp3 files into the folders, reboot and selected them through list, I even removed sd card to verify that alerts stay unchanged... I have read over several forums and no one ever suggested to move ringers to the internal memory this would have resolved a number of users complaints of ringers changing back to default when using Mass Storage.

And as for restoring contacts ringtones, have you tried restoring ContactsStorage2.2.1 from Titanium, I am sure the data is stored in one of them, I played around with figuring out with backup file from Titanium that restores email account settings and figure out it was AccountStorage2.2.1 and this might work the same way for contact settings and information.

Zedge Ringtones & Wallpapers - Android app on AppBrain

What if you already have custom ringtones set (having set them from inside of the contact)? Would Zedge somehow see those settings for those contacts and back them up, or do you think you would have to reset them through Zedge? This ringtone re-assignment has always been my biggest peeve when swapping ROM's.

I'll give that one a try, see if it works.

btw, I posted about the issues I was having with ringtones and moving them to the phones memory, Here.

That information would have been helpful but I guess since that didn't get much traffic this is probably why I missed it... Thanks for info.

Hope the other option works for you, might want to backup before trying because I ran into a few bugs testing restoring settings from Titanium.
