RIP Unlimited..even if you ordered in time?!?!?

If you take a subsidized phone it is correct. You will be forced out of your plan and onto a new one

Nope...

555-555-1234 smart phone w/unlimited data
555-555-9999 feature phone w/no data

1. Update 9999 to a subsidized smart phone with tiered data - new contract on this line only
2. Move the new device to 1234
3. Put feature phone back on 9999 and drop the data
4. New device on 1234 with unlimited data with no contract change

This works as I have done it recently.

You WILL NOT be forced on a share everything plan even if you upgrade on a subsidized phone via 2 year contract. You will however, lose unlimited data if you ordered on or after 6/28, and be forced to a tiered data plan, BUT you can keep your same voice plan.

  • I have an unlimited data plan on my account. Do I need to change it?
  • You're not required to move to Share Everything but if you do, unlimited data will not be retained on your line. As a Verizon Wireless customer you have choices when you upgrade at discounted pricing. You can choose from a standalone data package starting at $30 for 2GB or a Share Everything Plan. If keeping unlimited is important to you, you can choose to upgrade and pay full retail price for the phone.

I was all against the new plans and very stubborn. VERY. I THOUGHT WHAT A RIPOFF I had looked at them but figured it out wrong. I decided to call. Most I have ever used is 4gig. So I am going with the 6gig. I have a corporate discount. 30.00 month savings. So am biting the bullet

I am not against change just because it is change. I am against it when it cost me more money for less service. But thankfully verizon allows me to keep my legacy plan. Still ticked about losing unlimited data for upgrades though. Obviously, some like yourself would gain.

I talked to a vzw rep on the phone today and he told me in a year everyone will be kicked off unlimited data no matter what we do or don't do.

I have been told inaccurate information by multiple Verizon reps. Also, the rep doesn't have any more knowledge of unannounced changes than you or I. I am not saying that you are wrong, just that it seems highly unlikely that they would change the plan especially for people on contract. Most of the changes applies to people who are upgrading on subsidized 2 year contract.

Where is the thread for the round robin contest?

All the other paqrticipants forums have a weekly thread for the contest that it's easy to find and participate in the discussion.

Can you direct me to the right place please?

Not saying your not right, but they will get you one way or the other. They will make it to where you change anything at all and you lose it. It's what they did with my messaging a few years ago. I had a cheaper plan than was gone for over a year and they would not let me do anything on any line until I changed it. They would not let me upgrade another line. They even would not let me change to a different type phone. I had a feature phone and broke it. When I had to change to a basic until I got a replacement they made me upgrade more or less without my consent and then there was no going back.

They will get you, it's just a matter of when. With more and more ppl getting on the network, I would say it's a matter of months. Enjoy it while you have it.

We just upgraded my fathers dumb phone with them subsidizing it and our plan did not change. The guy at the store never mentioned it would or it would have to change. Now it just happened so I guess its possible I will get a a surprise for my next bill....

Maybe they only would do this if we went with a smart phone upgrade?
