Robin's Google Nexus 7 2013 Thread

Re: nova launcher update

Offtopic, but what wp8 device do you have and are you happy with it? I have played with that OS and I really love how smooth it is, but I can't justify buying a device as I'm just too heavily invested in google services (and the Nexus' unlockable bootloaders are a big deal to me).

I felt the same way so I bought a 100 doller lumia 520 and honestly it has a snapdragon s4 plus at 1 gig, an adreno 305 and 512 mb of ram and ive never once had my phone lag

. Well as per the usual app resumes but that happens on all of them. I was very pleasantly surprised.

I believe from now on my phone will be windows phone and my tablet will be android.... Love my 32gig nexus 7 2013

Re: nova launcher update

Unfortunately the bootloader on windows phones are locked down pretty hard. A few Samsung ones have been opened but if your getting a windows phone your dumb to not go Nokia in my opinion they have so many added features not available on other windows phones

Not to mention exclusive apps

Yeah, the lumia 920 was the first time I started lusting after a windows phone and they have only gotten more appealing since that time. And that really is a nicer mobile OS than people give it credit for. But for every phone I've ever owned (including a couple iphones), I always feel the urge to start tinkering/modding after a few months. Right now I'm on my first Nexus phone (N4) and just bought a 2013 N7, and I just don't see myself leaving the Nexus line for awhile.

Well the lumia 525 is launching soon it will be cheap have a faster processor and have a gig of ram it might be fun to grab and just play with who knows you might even like it

Nexus 7 Tablet (2013) Video Glitches

Anyone have the screen "hiccup" when either clicking on an app or going from app to app?

Can you describe what you mean by "hiccup" because I may have seen that issue occasionally.

Like a flash when an app loads or when I click on an app.

thinking of getting lg g pad since there are so many glitches

Hi folks since staples is allowing returns its tempting to see if I can get a different tablet. I've seen a few screen glitches and non responsive tapping at times.

Re: thinking of getting lg g pad since there are so many glitches

Have you tried a factory reset?
How bad is it? I wanted to get myself a Nexus 7 for Christmas :\

Re: thinking of getting lg g pad since there are so many glitches

Yes I have reset it. Didn't help. :( I figure I might as well return it while I can.

Sorry to hear that. I am on my launch unit as we speak. Zero issues. I love this thing.

Yes its an awesome tablet if it doesn't have problems like any other thing out there.

Keep in mind that reading these forums may cause one to think that there are many glitches. The vast vast majority of users experience no issues so they have no reason to post anything.

Re: thinking of getting lg g pad since there are so many glitches

True but my unit had them.

Re: thinking of getting lg g pad since there are so many glitches

I say if it is not working out for you return it and try something else. No need to have stay with something that is glitchy for you.

I plan on staying with the Nexus devices since I like the pure Android experience and have no such issues. Also, as a developer want to be on the latest version of the Android.

Unfortunately I am on my second nexus 7 and I am still experiencing random restarts.

I'll be honest the N7 13 is great but the lg g pad GPE gives it a run for its money

Tell you what. You should at least go check out the lg g pad before you decide. Pretty impressed with mine aka my daughters. Really like the size to over the nexus 7

Re: thinking of getting lg g pad since there are so many glitches

The gpad for $350 isn't very compelling at that price. For $120 less, you can get the Nexus 7 ? essentially the same tablet, with slightly better aesthetic chops and a slightly smaller display. For $50 more, you can get the iPad mini and its spectacular ecosystem of apps and services, or get the Galaxy Note 8.0 and its many tablet-friendly features. Samsung customized Android far better, adding stylus support and plenty of features that make sense on the larger screen size. I?d rather have LG?s hardware design and higher-res display, but Samsung makes a far better case for customization.

I was frustrated by my nexus7 as well and had to return it twice to get a properly working model but right now it's the best Android tablet you can buy.
