I've looked always used the Rom Manager recovery, I have never bricked myself. It isnt the nicest looking, so I would much rather have the Xionia recovery if I knew how, but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing wrong, I keep getting this screen when I type "adb shell" into a command prompt (attatched).

Point is... ROM Manager ≠ brick, use it. How I got the recovery is by telling it I'm using the lg optimus v, nothing went wrong flashing the recovery.

Yes it is possible to use, but the risk is HUGE! I bet I have seen an average of 1 brick a week for a year and a half. And those are only the ones that came here to complain of it.

As for your xionia issues you might want to switch to Cannibal Open Touch v1.2 as it is still openly supported and is themeable too! And for simplicity, there is a flashable zip that will update your existing recovery . . . from your existing recovery! Nice huh and no need for adb :D

Just because you can use rom manager without a problem, doesn't mean others can. Tons of people have not been either soft-bricked or bootlooped because of rom manager(I myself being one of them, when I didn't know better). It shouldn't be used because of that risk.

haha off topic, but the adb issue that you have is because the command prompt is not in the same dictionary as the adb.exe file you have to use the cd command to change it to the location of adb or just find adb and then right click in the folder while holding shift and then click open command window here

/facepalm

Cripes...This is like me saying "I drove 100 mph with my eyes closed and didn't hit that tree, what's your problem?"

I actually have a much better analogy but gotta keep it PG, but you get what I'm saying.

Btw the shift key thing doesn't work in winXP...

I also see it wasn't yet mentioned but you can use GooManager Beta as a replacement for ROM Manager once you install Cannibal. :) I fully believe that once Cannibal gets a better adoption from the Optimus S community developers will start using it to update their ROMs.

Yeah if goo.im can keep their site from crashing every other day.
