I'm running ACS ICS 5.5 with samurai 2.6.35.7 gen 1.2.1 kernel and the proper CM 5.0.2.7 BML clockwork.

I did not install it through ROM Manager, flashed it over ACS Recovery.

When I DL'ed ROM Manager, it installed and everything - but when I try to do anything it asks me to install the CM version through it. So I start that process, but it doesn't recognize my phone as an Epic, but rather by its model no., SPH-D700.

If I choose that under any of the ROM Manager options, I get a "SPH-D700 is dpoes not have an officially supported CMR yet. Have you installed a CM-based recovery manually?"

I say "Yes", and it gives menu with CM 2.x and CM 3.x - but nothing else. So i stop there as to not eff my phone.

Any ideas? Do I just need the Clean Kernel flashed through CWM for this to work properly?

Thanks for any help!

Edit: Read too fast. It's because ACS Recovery is not CWM Recovery. You can "try" selecting 3.x.x and see if it just redirects to your currently flashed ACS Recovery. I would just boot manually into ACS Recovery first and make a nandroid.

Sorry, I wasn't probably clear enough here.

I am running CWM 5.0.2.7 BML, I flashed it over ACS Recovery. ACS Recovery is gone, and the proper CWM is on my phone - ROM manager won't see it, though...

And your definitely on a BML based rom correct? Not MTD?

Try reflashing the recovery and/or uninstalling ROM Manager and reinstalling it.

Definitely BML, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled ROM manager.

You sure reflashing the recovery would help? It is most definitely installed and working for flashing zips and doing nandroid backups and all of that.

Does the kernel not matter here?

For recognizing it? No. For rebooting to it? Maybe.

I might back up your data and just start fresh.

That may be what I do, though really - I'm pretty happy with acs ics 5.5 atm, and a fullwipe + cm9 on mtd will likely be the next rom I fiddle with. Was mostly just excited that we have access to rom manager. :-) Toys, whee!

In my experience manual boot to recovery is more reliable anyway. Sometimes I would flash something via rom manager and it wouldn't take. Never had that issue with manual boot. It's only one extra step anyway, and most roms include reboot to recovery.
