Instructions: READ, READ,READ and READ some more
Note: If you are already rooted and then skip to step 6.
I personally recommended that you wipe EVERYTHING x3 for your first flash and if you are coming from a different ROM or EB13. That will give the most stable results..
If you experience FC's after booting up then wipe everything x3 and reflash. The FC's ARE NOT A BUG. More a side effect of switching ROM without starting clean.
1) Make sure you are Rooted with NEW CW3.0.0.6 OneClick by Dameon (If not already)
2) This WILL flash the EC05 modem over DI18 or EB13. No need to use odin.
3) Copy the midNIGHT ROM v5 (BYOR Edition) to your SD card.
4) Delete the current "midNIGHT ROM Extras" folder from your SD Card
5) Boot into CW3 (Let it covert. This will only happen if your on RFS)
6) Flash midNIGHT V5.2 and reboot (THIS WILL NOT WIPE DATA and DOES BACK UP AND RESTORE)
7) The Process WILL TAKE ABOUT 5 MINUTES TO FLASH SO DON'T PANIC. Also you will sit on the Samsung screen for at least a minute.
8) Using Quickboot, boot back into CW3
9) Navigate to the midNIGHT ROM Extras folder and flash individual zips to build you custom ROM. (If you don't have it already links are above)
and/or
10) Navigate to the midNIGHT ROM Extras folder and flash the midNIGHT ROM v5.2 Standard Edition UPGRADE.zip and you will enjoy the "Typical" or "Standard" midNIGHT ROM release..
ALL SUPPORT WILL BE GIVEN AT THE XDA ONLY

What do you get when you flash midNIGHT ROM (BYOR Edition)?

If you want to just have a "Standard Edition" you can just flash the midNIGHT ROM v5.2 Standard UPGRADE.zip" and you will be good to go. I have tested both versions. Both seem very stable and quick. Hopefully battery life is better since I removed a ton of background apps.

FYI: There is a HOW TO video for installing this ROM along with CW3 on my blog as well. Look on the Android Development page. Please keep in mind that the ROM being flashed in this video is not the v2.7 but the process is the exact same. Also I skipped the wipes prior to flashing to save time.

Fired this 5.2 BYOR this weekend, straight flash from Bonsai 4.01 . Compliments w/std upgrade & solid blue circle theme - it is so colorful, but subtle in its styling. Feels very solid and fairly snappy too.

Had one thing unresolved when I click a streamed video like 'hands on reviews' here, hands off to video player without asking android/internet or gallery/video player and will play, but somewhere in the middle of the stream sound stops working on entire phone and when going back to browser the display is blocky and some text appears/disappears. Thought it might be the added voodoo, the tweaked browser or just incompatibility with a site , but You tube is force close as soon as it is touched through app tray also . Sound will restore only after reboot. Videos will play after glitch but no sound . Videos on the phone played with Video Player seem to play without tripping out.

Like the ROM so much may try ODIN back to stock, EB13/EC05 update , re-root, clean install and see if this issue disappears . If it is a known issue do not want to do a full blown reset.

May try to uninstall the you tube app and try reflashing pure BYOR also . Would appreciate any feedback or suggestions .

--> Update : reflashing extras or uninstalling you tube no changes, fired on Dolphin HD and no issues what so ever . Will have to dig in and when I do my clean install will try for another default browser
Did a clean load and it helped with the default browser, no sound issue is no longer present - still have abit of the txt thing - but have not felt the need to load Dolphin HD again.

midNIGHT 5.2 APP Installation issue EPIC

First off, I apologize if this has been asked before, I tried to do a reasonable amount of research prior to asking.

I installed the midNIGHT 5.2 ROM (both byor and standard as instructed in everything I read/watched). The OS is running beautifully, and am loving everything about it.

Only issue I have discovered so far is that when I went into the marketplace to get a couple apps back (primarily WPClock at this point), I can download it fine, however when installing the app the phone will vibrate a couple of times and then power cycle.

OK - COOL, maybe it's just an issue with the marketplace. So I downloaded the .APK file that I wanted, put it directly on my SD card and go to install it from the phone which starts out fine, but ultimately ends with the same results.

Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Thanks,
Will

I am well aware of this problem. I'm not sure what the exact fix is for it either which bothers me. When attempting to install from sdcard or Market within a second or two of installation beginning you get the vibration and then it goes into a boot loop. I've had it happen more on no journaling ROMs and even had it happen on journaling enabled.

Best I can offer is boot into CWM wipe cache/dalvik cache 3x and reboot. If that doesn't resolve it you could also try booting into CWM and select Advanced>Fix Permissions then reboot.

Worst case you will need to wipe everything 3x and flash the ROM again.

I've done the wipe 3x and re-flash the ROM already to no avail, but I will try wiping and fix permissions to see if it helps, thanks!

I did do one thing that seemed to fix it, not sure why but it worked...

Use the journaling mod, and it seemed to fix the issue. I went from it happening on a NO journaling ROM and enabled journaling then the boot loop installation issue was gone. Why? I'm not sure.. ..
