[ROM][MTD/BML][EI22] RandomROM THUNDERHAWK 3.4.2 | 2/8

Re: [ROM] RandomROM THUNDERHAWK 3.2 [AIO] EI22 | 11/30

Well, around 23 hours with the Shadow Kernel, and I experienced my first soft reboot, and WiFi dropout. The memory leak definitely seems a bit better on the Shadow Kernel. For a rough idea of my testing kernels with my normal daily usage before I experienced lag from RAM leaks and WiFi Dropouts (resolved by turning WiFi off and then back on again):
  • 4-6 hours on the included Samurai Kernel (which I think is 2.0.6)
  • 12-16 hours on the Nubernel v1
  • 23 hours on the Shadow Kernel v1 (the NON-OC version)
Hopefully this information is useful ;)

I too have been using the Shadow Kernel (V1 OC/UV) for about 2 days now on top of this rom. Much better performance over Samurai. I put up to V2.0.8 of samurai on and had at least 3 soft reboots a day, horrible memory leaks, and very laggy. I have not had a reboot on Shadow. There is still a slight mem leak somewhere, but even with it, shadow never lags like samurai did. Also i wasn't OC'd on Samurai or Shadow. Both kernels have been run stock mhz/v.

Re: [ROM] RandomROM THUNDERHAWK 3.2 [AIO] EI22 | 11/30

Forgive me if this isn't what you're looking for. In your phone, Click Menu -> Settings -> Sound -> Volume - you will then be presented with a series of volume sliders, the top one is labeled as Incoming Call Volume. Hopefully this will help :)

I have mine set at about 50%, and it works very well for me there.
during a call, the volume slider want decrease, making my volume too loud when in a call, but thanks

That happens on a lot of EI22 ROMs. You have to hit volume up before you can lower the volume and then it works.

What a great ROM,
Thank you RK!

The only problem I've been having has been the access to the "System Updates". Im trying to reset my radio but it the System Updates closes unexpectedly right after selection.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I had that issue a while ago. Chances are you ran the superfreeze command at one point. In order to go into System Updates you need to run the superdefrost command and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

Re: [ROM] RandomROM THUNDERHAWK 3.2 [AIO] EI22 | 11/30

i googled and searched, can't remember the command to defreeze in su, to try that, never i got it, thanks

  • Professional Feel and Look Maintained
  • NO MORE REBOOTS!
  • You know what... I'm gloating now...

Simply put, this took a LOT of effort. For example, the Scrollable toggles mod and advanced power menu mod? I basically had to modify several files twice. A lot lot LOT of hours went into this, and believe it or not, it's just me! A huge thanks to my testers again for sparing me from having to develop and subsequently test and retest everything. If there's a more fully-featured rom out there at this moment I'd be amazed. And the performance? Forget about it! Leave out the 9-lock mod and it's the most stable battery-sipping thing I've had on my phone to date. Anyways, uploading now... enjoy!

Re: [ROM][EI22] RandomROM THUNDERHAWK 3.3 [NO MORE REBOOTS!][NoCI

Yeah, u can defenitely count on me to be a tester. That last update you put up looks really good. I can't wait to go home tonight and download it and install it. Good work dude. I'll buy u a beer someday.

Re: [ROM][EI22] RandomROM THUNDERHAWK 3.3 [NO MORE REBOOTS!][NoCI

I too would love to be one of your testers for future builds :) Been running this since about 5pm EST (Dec 21) - definitely much more stable without the LockScreen mods. By the way, I LOVE the RDU and the flashable Lite/Full option, and the ability to edit the simple .cfg file for tweaks. Running the full install, with Scrollable Toggles and the Advanced Power menu.

Thanks again for an amazing ROM and a reason to love being an Epic 4G owner. Happy Holidays RandomKing :)

Re: [ROM][EI22] RandomROM THUNDERHAWK 3.3 [NO MORE REBOOTS!][NoCI

Can you recommend a modem that is compatible with 3.3 and get my 4G to work?

Is anyone running a theme with 3.3? If so, how is it working for you?

I'm looking for something that is either close to stock appearance or maybe an ICS theme.

Thanks.

Re: [ROM][EI22] RandomROM THUNDERHAWK 3.3 [NO MORE REBOOTS!][NoCI

I like this ROM alot randomking- I am hoping this is my Gingerbread replacement for ACE ROM 2.0 which I used a long time before jumping to EI22. It seems to have GREAT battery life idle, which ive been missing since switching to Gingerbread.

I am not a fan of the lock mods due to how they seem to cause RAM leaks and soft reboots (hence I dont have that flashed on your rom), so might you explain what you did to accomplish no more reboots? I happen to HATE the touchwiz lockscreen as the AOSP is much more natural to unlock and allows me to silence the phone, so I flashed an AOSP lockscreen from the Shake & Bake theme page; unfortunately, this seems to have removed the scrolling statuswidgets (top of the pulldown menu, wifi, bluetooth, data, etc) which would be nice to have and has eliminated reboot from my power button menu.. Any chance you might guide me (or point to a guide) how to modify thunderhawk's zip to include an AOSP lockscreen?

Im sure youre busy, and it isnt a dealbreaker- never had that stuff on Froyo and its great in every other way. I seem to be one of the few dudes around the Epic forums to prefer AOSP lockscreens, and this came up initially with froyo roms too ;) Thanks for making an all-day capable ROM

Re: [ROM][EI22] RandomROM THUNDERHAWK 3.3 [NO MORE REBOOTS!][NoCI

Incredible: 21 hours off the charger, hour and a half screen time, about 250 texts, a bit of angry birds during the screen on, a couple of apps installed from market- 56 percent remaining.

RandomKing, this is the king of gingerbread imo

Re: [ROM][EI22] RandomROM THUNDERHAWK 3.3 [NO MORE REBOOTS!][NoCI

My Epic 4g freezes on reboot after the Thunderhawk upgrade. This happened twice. Each time the only solution is a factory wipe and reinstall. It would freeze during the boot sequence. I would hear the service tones and message alerts, but the screen would be frozen on the boot animation for over 15 minutes. Both times this happened after restoring my files using Titanium Pro. Obviously titanium is restoring something that's interfering with Thunderhawk but i haven't figured out exactly where the problem is yet. It's a bit frustrating, because i can't seem to get my bookmarks, SMS, or phonebook data to migrate, but i am able to get all of my other apps and data migrated. I'll give it one more reboot. I have the latests CWM purple, which allows for USB mounting. This has been very helpful.

You might consider sms backup to sd from the market, saving your contacts as a vcf, and saving your bookmarks to sdcard (if thats possible). That way you could just do the resetup of everything besides those things and not have the reboot issues. I restored my contacts and sms messages via this method.

Keep in mind, backing up via that program doesnt seem to backup pictures or videos- I would suggest saving them seperately to your sdcard

Re: [ROM][EI22] RandomROM THUNDERHAWK 3.3 [NO MORE REBOOTS!][NoCI

I found out the reboot problem. There's a script in Titanium backup to move apps to the SD card. Apparently there are some apps built into Thunderhawk that will prevent the phone from booting if they're on the SD card. It took me 4 system wipes and re-installs to finally figure that out.

I don't understand why Titanium backup doesn't backup SMS and phone logs. Does Google really expect us to have to load a backup app for every function we want backed up? There should be one backup app that backs up all user data and is built into the OS. I've lost lots of useful data. I was backing up with 3 separate apps; Backup Everything (which i can't find it in the app store anymore so a restore is impossible), Titanium (did a great job on the apps and the data, but didn't save any of my phone logs or SMS), and Backup Master (backed up all of my data but wouldn't restore any of it- piece of crap).

Backing up and restoring phone data should not be this difficult.

thanks

No, you can use whatever modem you're currently on with this ROM. If you're on rooted GB, I'm assuming you're already on the EI22 modem, but modems and ROMs are independent of each other, so whatever modem you're currently on will work.

Re: [ROM][EI22] RandomROM THUNDERHAWK 3.3 [NO MORE REBOOTS!][NoCI

"-The default installation is Full with Standard Toggles, Advanced Power, and no Lockmod"

Anyway to turn on the scrollable toggles after I already did the Standard Full flash? If not.. I have to redo the flash with options setting adjustment?

"Can't figure out how to make the battery percentage appear?
It's under Settings > Lockscreen Settings > Statusbar Settings"

I can't find this.. and I noticed I don't have the lockscreen program installed as I see on RK's ROM pictures with puzzle lock. Do I need to get it from the market?

I also notice the Terminal Emulator is not in the flash.. I saw somewhere that it was included? No?

This is an awesome ROM and this is my first time I ever done a ROM flash :D Will send donation! Thanks RK!!
