[Rom] [Team Hydro] LG Optimus Q Rom

Since it was taken down and the thread locked.. I decided I'd put it back up for those who still want it. (thanks to rookie407 for this) "You can update the su binaries if you install busybox (*VERIFIED*). It is snappier, and you will get a better battery life. You need to have ClockworkMod recovery installed to do this... This is a stock rom with a few changes to lighten it up. You will also have root access after installing this.

1) Make sure you boot into a custom recovery (you do this by powering off the phone. you then hold the home button, the volume down button on the volume rocker, and the power button simultaneously until it boots into your custom cwm recovery), backup your current setup to be safe.
2) Wipe all data, clear cache, and clear delvik cache under advanced.
3) Install the .zip rom from the sd card...

4) Profit...

I take no credit for this rom I just wanted to put it back up... I also have approval from jondevere to do so...so enjoy!

I appreciate the rom! It is better and I was scared that this rom would be lost forever. THANK YOU for bringing this back from the dead!

I know the creator isn't happy about the response here, and I feel bad about that. I do have one question though. I know this was built from a stock rom that had Carrier IQ embedded. I was able to remove a lot of it by deleting files. So much so that Voodoo reported back a score of only 50. I would like to think that I mangled it enough to not function on my phone, but the problem was that I was getting 2 messages about crashing apps on boot.

Does anyone know how to remove it in a proper way? I feel like I'm performing brain surgery with a machete here.

I haven't even attempted to remove carrier iq from this rom because I've read of bricks as a result of its removal...idk the accuracy of what I've read but there is a cheap app on the market that removes carrier iq. Good luck and let me know if you figure it out. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I have a lg optimus q lgl55c slider. straight talk. works great. all I want is to have adobe flash on it so that I can watch movies from crackle. I am computer savvy but android phones are a new cup of tea for me. So far i have rooted my phone, downloaded off of here a supposed version of adobe that does nothing but bring up a web page that never loads and then in that forum they talk of roms. and needing this hydro one as well as several others. I am familiar with a rom being a game, but lost as to how this hydro rom will make my adobe work? anyone can help here? just want crackle to work and it wont play unless I have adobe flash. ive been jumping hoops here. The rooting was easy but serves me no purpose. what does rooting do? ive done it, have superuser, but i see no benefit what so ever other than now I can use a wireless hotspot that my roku streaming device can not connect to. never bothered to use my computer to connect vie hotspot cuz I already can tether from usb and I know direct in has to be quicker. so what do i do? where do i go?

Well I used root privaledges to theme my phone, change animations and font. I also tried to use the adobe flash version available here and I just get a notice saying flash not installed on flash sites. To be honest, I don't know what to tell you as far as that goes. What I do know is that rooting let's you backup everything related to your rom which is an awesome tool for anyone. I wish I could answer your question regarding flash but I can't. I couldn't get flash playing on the stock or hydro rom. Flash isn't designed for the arm6 processors these phones have.

No. A rom wouldn't allow you to overclock. You would need a custom kernel for that. To be honest, I'm assuming that this processor is already overclocked (like the slider).

wow of course... the only problem i have with this rom is that everytime im on the phone and the person on the other side hangs up, my phone will not respond i would have to take out the battery just to get it to turn on. but if i hang up it works fine

is this an issue with the rom?

i have an lgl55c from net 10 btw

My lg l55c is through net10 as well. I've never had that problem personally, but it doesn't mean its not related to the install. I've yet to have this phone freeze up in any way. I would just recommend if it continues, reinstall, but remember to wipe the cache and delvik cache before you reinstall... it won't hurt to wipe both right after before your first boot either. From me looking at the rom the only thing I see is its deodexed. I wish we had a stock rom available (outside of my nandroid backup). Just to compare the two. I never experienced what you're going through. But, I'm also not well versed on android...though I know a lot more now. I can't even begin to guesstimate how many times I've made a backup, restored from a backup, or flashed this rom... I don't even want to go into how many times I've flashed themes either. I'm working on creating a fully customized theme for these phones and I'm almost done... when I finish ill upload the .zip. I know that's unrelated but I just thought id share.

btw jcole i found this. someone did overclock this processor but i would advise anyone thinking about overclocking that it would be extremely unstable...

i really hope net 10 will release a smart phone with a much better processor
hell i cant even play angry birds it chokes up the further you get into the game.

Here is my finished theme. Custom animations (youtube "rudolf android animations" and the first result is the animations), I've changed the notification window, I've made a custom font available in my stock nandroid backup thread, and the "tracfone" boot animation I ditched for a nicer animation. I'm about to upload the .zip and make it available...

I would suggest getting the adw launcher or golauncher theme glow legacy. Its the only thing that costs money related to this. And I'm in no way connected to the person that made it,,,I just worked to get the rest of the phone synced. You install what I did by putting the .zip on the root of your sd card (like you did with the team hydro.zip). Reboot into recovery and flash the .zip just like its a rom. Only takes a second. The theme has its own thread and is available for download....

As far as I know you can't unbrick a hard brick (can't access recovery). As long as you don't flash an incompatible rom (eg an optimus say v rom onto this) you should be fine. Just remember to make regular backups and use titanium backup to store app backups and you should be fine. I've got plenty of stuff up on this forum to keep most people out of such scenarios. Id like to point out again that I had nothing to do with the making of this rom. That credit goes to jondevere. I hope everyone enjoys their Optimus Q regardless of which rom you use.

finally after hrs and hrs of searching i find a custom rom sweet been trying to root my cousins Q its been a headache trying to search and find all the files....hey if you dont mind can i repost this on XDA i have seen a few people over there looking for it too i will wait for your approval before i do so

Its not my rom or id grant the permission. If you do repost it, let people know the rom is deodexed, its got a lighter footprint, and (I'm not sure why exactly) but the su binaries can't be updated. Its very important you let people know those three things. This rom is basically stock. Its just rooted along with the things I've said above. Should have a better battery life and more available internal memory. If you flash this on anyones phone disable the superuser binary notifications... you can update superuser but not the binaries. also remember to tell people who have cwm installed not to wipe data/factory reset from the settings... you have to do that in recovery or you'll brick the phone. This rom should be snappier and it runs better than the stock rom...

i will be flashing this on my cousins phone tomorrow and i will tell him that also seeing as how i dont have the dev's permission i will not post on xda but i have given a couple people a link to this thread thanks for the info im checking my superuser app on my phone on how to change it to not update the binaries so i can do it to his tomorrow and will give him all the info thanks for the heads up man

to jcole and anyone else using this Rom,

If your having problems with the SuperUser saying binary outta date i found the fix... the maker of the rom didnt include busybox! simply install jrummy's busybox then run the su binary and your all set!!!

kinda sad ive had it on wifeys phone this long and spent countless hours trying to figure this out as mr. jcole20 has and it was as simple as that!!!
