Rookie question about signing out of Google

I have had my S3 for about 2 weeks now. I recently needed to sign into my Google account for something. Since then it constantly wants to update, therby using more battery than it did. Problem is, I have not found where I can sign out of Google.

Any help for this Android rookie?

Do you mean to sign out of the account you set the phone up with? If so, you can't do that.

If you mean to stop it from syncing and wasting battery, go to Settings / accounts / Google, and toggle the sync options off.
