Root 2.3.4 on Samsung Captivate

I have flashed 2.3.4 build UCKH3 onto my captivate but I want to root it. I have googled and found out about gingerbreak and superoneclick to root my captivate but they haven'w worked so far. Anyone else know how to do this?

I do have a mac but it runs windows 7 as well.

Flash the .tar version of the Boog KH3 kernel via Odin and you'll have root and clockwork recovery.
This process will not wipe any of your data.

It didnt give me root access. tried doing it twice

Do you have Clockwork Recovery?

I'm still a bit of a noob, but when I flashed nothing was added. no super user app clockwork or anything.

Then it didn't flash? What steps are you using to flash the kernel?

putting into download mode and using odin to flash the kernel, I tried two of the different kernels in the post on the link provided in the first reply of this thread.

ok i did notice that when I did a factory reset today i do have clockwork recovery on my device. now how do I get root from there?

If you have clockwork that usually means you also have root.

Can one install the superuser zip for gingerman without doing the above process first?
