yeah i got mine yesterday and was glad to at least be a test dummy for the root method i found. the stock rom is driving me mad though. i was able to theme the systemUI a bit and push it but until we get at least a recovery and a flashable deodexed rom that's about all i can do. i was also able to create init.d and debloat with root explorer so it's better than nothing.

the concern i have is the device has been out overseas for a few weeks and there absolutely no talk of development. all of the stock roms for odin are on foreign blogs i found, not even anything from any of the large android communities.

I havent attempted to root mine yet. But I will soon. Of the 16gb that the device has only 9.78 gb are free. With debloat how much is now free for you?

Ill be getting a 64gb sd card soon.

On its own it stands as a great tablet. A little expensive., it should have been more like $350. It does have alot of bloat though.

Seems source code has been out for awhile now. Thats why i think the price point killed development. For xda to not have a sub forum speaks volumes. Glad i was able to at least find root for you guys.

Thank you so much for identifying this method and being the canary for us, smooth. I used the method and it rooted quickly and perfectly. Although I run Deviant Xone on my S3, I am not too concerned about getting custom ROMs on this 8.0, but I definitely wanted root at least. Cheers to ya.

Guys.....I installed multi window manager after root. Loaded it like my note2. Screwed up the look and operation of multiwindow.uninstalling didnt help. It locks up when adding the second app. Thought I broke it. Reinstalled mwc and found in settings that you can remove the patch. Did so, rebooted, and all was restored. Heres the caveat.....I now have all apps in multiwindow, and I havent found one that doesnt play nice!

Just tried this. Declined to install the patch when prompted, as you suggest, and sure enough, I have all the apps at my disposal. This is awesome, because I do a lot of remote meetings and wanted to be able to watch a Webex presentation while taking notes on a second window. Now I can!

I did notice that an app like Evernote plays nice with multi-window initially, but then when I want to create a new note, the new note window expands across both panes. That's OK, though. I'll just take the note in S-note and export to Evernote afterwards for archiving in those cases.

Not sure what you are looking for that is different than the first line of the first post in this thread. It takes you to the XDA thread where you can grab the apk straight from the tablet, pick the Aragon exploit, and you're done. Very quick.

Because I read about the aragon and legolas but have no idea what that crap means. All I see is a framaroot.apk file, is this what I need and during Its install does it give me the option for Aragorn exploit?

I apologize ive only rooted my note 2 using chainfire and that required a pc to do. I didnt know there was a way to do it locally on the tablet itself.
