root after update

I unrooted because I kept getting the OTA update, so i updated using the OTA update. I now want to get my root back. However, I can not get it back. I have the superuser permission app in on my phone, but I can't get anything to root the phone (z4 and one click methods). I think I am just having problems because SU is still installed and that is causing z4 to fail. So I am either looking for a method to get rid of SU then root with z4, or just get z4 to work. I am annoyed... Please help so I don't throw my phone against a wall.

PS: I really do not want to SBF

Some people had to try z4 a few times. Try and reboot the phone and try a few more times. If that don't work reboot into recovery and wipe cache then wipe data and try again. Once you get root make a backup so you can flash back to stock to get your ginger bread.

Thanks for the help everyone. I ended up doing a system SBF and that worked fine. Then went ahead and Apexed to try something different since I lost my set up with before the SBF.
