Root and Rom the maxx

So I'm coming from GN and I'm curious to know how I would install a rom with a locked boot loader? I read root is fairly simple, however I am no expert and not sure to how I could flash with no access to boot loader? Also what if something goes wrong, I imagine it is not easy to just flash a stock rom?

Maybe I'm missing something? Someone help me out please?

Look for a program by mattlgroff, and he has a utility that will unroot and install bootstrap.. Use bootstrap to install roms.
