I wanted to start a thread to list Apps for the Incredible that require root access and work.

I rooted my DINC today using the 10 minute video. Working good so far. Was having some problems with Wifi tether, but I figured out that the version on the marketplace doesn't work, you have to use the one that goes with the 10 minute video. Probably the modified config bin. Haven't been able to get the Titanium backup to work, but I'm pretty sure its on my end since other people have gotten it working after installing the correct version of busybox from within the app. Mine attempts it, but keeps failing.

Here's the rundown of apps I have tried;

Wireless Tether (By Muller, Lemons, and Buxton)

Lamppu - Works good, haven't run into any broken camera problems, but I haven't pushed it.

Titanium Backup - Haven't got it working yet. Other people have.

If you have any good apps that require root that you've confirmed as working, post em here. Can't wait for some froyo ROMs.

Also, I want to try Startup Manager or Startup Cleaner, but haven't had the chance. If you've used either, let me know which is better.

Thanks.

Just in; I got Titanium working. I think it was having problems downloading the busybox over wifi. Works great now, absolutely fantastic app.

great thread but it needs to be moved to the roms/hack section if not it will be on the bottom of page 3 in the morning.

Yeah, should have put it in there. I was torn between there and the generic app forum, so I went with the middle of the road and posted here, lol.

ShootMe works fantastic as well...no issues at alll that I can find.

P.S. xaronax..... I have pushed it with Lamppu and no camera locks or other issues at all so far!!!

Root Apps for Droid, as of 2011

With the App Market making such big steps forward, when I search online it's hard to find up to date apps on rooted phones.

I'll list what I have right now as my search continues.

note I'm still using stock ROM- no need to change.

>> AdFree -- Removes advertisements from popular apps (such as angry birds) and most advertisements from websites. Does not clean all, but definitely a whole lot of them. It's updated on regular basis.

>> App 2 SD Free -- Easy way to move some of my apps on internal storage to SD

>> AutoStarts -- Allows you to disable apps from automatically booting at startup or at other moments (such as on plugin, or bluetooth connect)

>> Wireless -- The built in tether costs a significant of extra money in order to do it. Since I don't use it often, there's no way I would pay for it. But I have found myself in spots before where I have a laptop with no wifi, but I do have 3G. With this app, just 1-2 clicks and a 20-30 second wait and you'll have a new wifi connection setup for your laptop to use.

>> SetCPU -- Very useful app, lots of different 'profiles' where you can change CPU speed according to the state of your phones battery level, or even turning your screen off.

>> Titanium Backup -- I haven't used this often because I don't change ROM's, therefore little risk of messing up my phone and needing a backup. Very useful for people who like to change ROM's though.

Just to clarify, that's not what Titanium is for. A nandroid backup can do that. Titanium saves application data. Since flashing ROMs usually means wiping (formatting) your phone, Titanium allows you to carry application data between ROMs.

ROM Manager should be added, even though it's an obvious one.
