Where are all the Android aka Samsung Galaxy S3 wiz kids?
I have already posted twice and have not received one response or any suggestions or advice, is there no answer to my problem?
I am a completely new Android user, I have been with Apple Iphone for the past 5 years and just 2 days ago purchased a second hand Samsung Galaxy S3 GT - 19300 but discovered the IMEI has been locked by the network. It was suggested that I "root" the phone aka like a jailbreak. I followed the forum posts on how to do this without using a computer, seemed to successfully instal Superuser using Frodo (whatever that means) however when I went into the Android Play Store and tried to download Chainfire, that's when everything went haywire and the phone just went black with the Samsung logo stuck on it.
I can get into the "recovery mode" by holding volume up + home + power but this doesn't actually do anything except give me recovery options that do not reboot the phone? I can also get into something called "ODIN" by doing the reverse but again, do not know what this is and doesn't seem to do anything either except, when I hit volume down to cancel, phone just gets stuck on the Android noting "downloading do not turn target off".
I am using a new Mac, have access to an old Windows based laptop therefore if I need to "un-brick" this phone using software installed into my pc, I can do so but I need step by step instructions made for a complete novice.
I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ANDROID AND AM ABSOLUTELY HATING IT RIGHT NOW! WORST CHOICE EVER BUT I PAID FOR THIS CRAP SO WOULD LIKE IT TO WORK!!
PS: If I can get the phone back to normal, is there a way to unlock the IMEI? Please note that I have already spoken to Vodafone and they will only unlock the IMEI when the original owner of the phone contacts them and requests this...........god only knows who the original owner is; I purchased from a pawn shop.
Please, please help!
