Root before activation?

Just received my GS2, and it is not yet activated. I will root it, but I was wondering if there are any advantages/disadvantages or any conveniences for rooting and possibly flashing before activation. I found a thread for another phone where the answer was 'yes you can', but that was for an entirely different phone, not even a Sammy. any word on this? thank you!

Don't think it matters one bit. It won't change your service charges.

to confirm, yes it can be done. i successfully rooted before activation. now, on to flashing!
