Root for clean UI or just wait for ICS?

Right now I use sense and it seems to bog down performance.

I suspect something is wrong with the phone as well. Its getting stuck in windows and occasionally restarting. I dont know what is to blame for this.

I really just want a stripped down clean setup that is fast.

Can I just root and remove Sense and use stock Android? Any suggestions....

I was going to use CM7, but heard that WiMax and 3D among other things will be bugged... sounds like a deal killer to me.

Rooting will depend on what hboot you have. If you have the latest, which is 1.5, then the only way to unlock the bootloader is through HTC's method. If you have 1.3 or 1.4, then you can use Revolutionary, which is reported to be easier than HTC's method. I rooted with Revolutionary so that is the only method I know anything about.

I am rooted and happen to like Sense so I use CleanROM by scrosler. He also has a ROM called Senseless. I haven't tried it because like I said, I like Sense, but if it performs as well as CleanROM then I believe you would like it. There are threads for scrosler's ROMs in the Rooting section of the EVO 3D forum. Good luck

I agree with the OP, For me there is no point in rooting and romming without 4g, and most of these custom roms don't seem to be able to get Wimax working. Check out a third party launcher and use home manager to kill Sense. That may work for you. My phone is fast for the most part with hardly a lock up.

I live in a non-4G market so that isnt as big of a deal as not having WiFi or 3D. Without WiFi my phone is a brick. 3G in Michigan is a disaster and there has been no improvement.

Will i get the performance increase of having Sense killed? I just want a clean simple setup with all functions of my phone working.

I have the evo3d with hboot 1.5 and use CleanRom... everything works great! If you look through my posts in the CleamRom area I explain how I did it on 1.5. It's easy. Phone is lean and mean now.

Funny though... I don't use Sense at all (I don't like it) but I also didn't install the sensless rom! I use CleanRom and then Go launcher Ex to get the desired look and feel. Give them both a try and see what you like best. Sounds like the Senseless Rom may be what you need.

I don 't have many performance issues with Sense killed I'd try that, it's easier than rooting and Go Launcher will give you the desired clean and tight feel you desire. I thought about rooting, but i need MMS, Wimax, WiFi and just about everything to work perfectly and hardly have the time to troubleshoot if a problem were to occur.

Stupid question, I have tried different launchers from the market and found myself always returning to Sense. I didn't find any difference in performance between using different launchers. Should there be?

everything works with clean rom. idont understand you people saying that when you root you loose functionality. completely the opposite.

Depends on what you're looking for. I was looking for a way to have a configurable persistent dock, a scrolling wallpaper, and for damn sure to not have anything that had a carousel effect if you swiped quickly.

For me, to have that criteria, Go Launcher EX fit the bill just fine and Sense had to go. It even has different screen transitions if you want some kind of visual effects.

Performance wise I guess it's fine either way, I just hate the lack of configuration to the Sense dock and everytime the carousel happens it makes me very irritated.
