Root method without adb in recovery!! Plus custom recovery included!

Okay, so unrevoked is out for the Incredible. Let's say I go through the process, root the phone, and put a custom rom on there (once I figure out how to do all of that).

Is there a way to take a "snapshot" of how the phone is currently set up, and a way to undo the entire process to go back to the exact state my phone is in now, pre-root?

I was going to wait to root after froyo but I might just do it now haha

Hey I know its been covered but what does this do in terms of leaving a trace and violating warranty?? What I mean is if you for some reason you need to insurance/warranty replace your phone, does this method leave a trace that will violate those terms? Also, if root is noticeable to "the man", is there a way to revert to stock (assuming your phone isn't dead)??

Thank you I'm advanced :)

Halp??

FYI - using the PB31IMG.zip to unroot your phone - will wipe out all your settings and apps etc

I am now going back and trying to remember all my apps to download

I had to do the same thing, but when I went into the market under Downloads, all of my apps were there, I just had to reinstall them.

yeah - I saw that too - but don't exit out of the market app before you're done downloading them all - that list goes bye bye and you're left with only your purchased and currently installed apps listed there

That's why I use appbrain. Super simple, works hand in hand with the market, and now they have one press web installs from their site to your phone.

Ok.. i['m just useless.. i can't even get this one to work..
and now i can't even mount my phone to my computer..
*sigh*

Well, it looks like the problem wasn't with HTC Sync, but with the usb drivers. It didn't work in Ubuntu either. Downloaded it to my Mac, and voila - everything just worked!

Thank you Unrevoked for this process. I could not get root with the earlier process. I followed instructions to a tee and it worked flawlessly.

Yes the prl updates and phone programming from *228 option 1 and 2 are totally safe.

Your warranty is gone as soon as you flash a different recovery. You can revert back to none rooted condition later if you need to.
