So I'm rooting my phone. And i wanted to make sure i'm doing it right.
It says to "1. place the PB00IMG.zip in the root of your sdcard" Does that mean like when i hook it up to my computer and open it as a folder, i just drag it into there?

Yes. You drag, or copy, the file into the root directory of the SD Card. Or, to say another way, do not copy into its own folder, or put it into a folder already on the SD Card.

The "root directory" is the directory you connect to when you first connect to the SD card when you connect it to your computer. It's the place where all of your files and other folders are stored. Root is not the name of a folder or a file - it's the place where all of your other folders are stored. The top level folder.

I hope that explains it well enough...

When I plug my android into usb and turn on USB storage a 2gb file opens that contains
android, bluetooth, data, DCIM, LOST.DIR files.

I'm guessing this is the ROOT of my SD card.Am I correct?

Thank you

Yes, that's the place.

I have repeatedly tried to apply the mvd update on my sd card and my phone cannot find it. Call me ed but I have read all the posts and obviously I am not placing the update correctly on the sd card. Where is the "highest level" or root directory?

FAT32 or FAT. You have to format your card to match one of those.

Sent from my Epic 4G Touch running the world's best operating system.

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I took it for granted that I had to unzip the update first. Not the case. it worked great when I just moved the update as is. :)

The root directory is the top level of the sd card. So, rather than put the update.zip file in a folder, put it on the card so it is *not* in a folder.

I need help to find out where my root of my SD card is Pls
thanks

The root directory just means the initial storage location where all other files and folders are located. If you are looking at a list of files on the SD card and you are in a folder on the card, go up in the directory chain until there are no more folders to go up to. That's the root directory (of any storage location, not just SD cards.)
