So you need to be rooted again? You can look at Galaxy S3 root .com. I think that one is universal and doesn't need to be on a specific version of android.

I'm puzzled.
Your phone is still on 4.0.4? (How does that happen anyway - that's pretty old)
It's stock, unrooted?
You tried to update to 4.1.2 (MF1) and it failed?
And now you want to root 4.0.4?
Edit: I believe I used something from http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=191050
[Guide] Root/Unroot/Recovery/Unlock Bootloader for the Verizon Galaxy S3 (SCH-i535) when I first rooted back on 4.0.4. The name DebugFS (or something like that) comes to mind.

I used a tool based on the work described in the post above. It builds the steps into a single-click process that takes less than 5 minutes. You'll do yourself a favor if you read the entire thread. Yes, it's long, but I was prepared for issues that I didn't have to deal with.

Not my work, just passing along the information. I think that's the point of forums like this one.
