Root to update to 4.2.2?

Hey everybody. I just purchased an HTC One ( a little late, but it wasn't available in my country, Mexico until about 2 weeks ago) I checked what version of Android I was running and I was unpleasantly surprised to know that I was running 4.1.2... I tried to update the software but the phone told me that I was running the latest version available for my phone... I wasn't planning on rooting but know that i'm stuck in 4.1.2 I might try to. Is there anyway I can update to at least 4.2.2? I would really appreciate some help.

First off, take care of that puppy! (Don't get me started on El Salvador ). Second, did you buy it from a carrier with a contract or is it the international version?
