It's hard to get help alot of times on forums with just reading and posting posts that may not get answered. I found this guys youtube channel and he is awesome! He does videos and tutorials and even has his own website. This root for your myTouch 4G is fast, easy and already is overclocked! Check it out!

YouTube - NO PC NEEDED MYTOUCH HD ROOT AND OVER CLOCKING

The over clocking is....... The processor is stock at 1024 he says he over clocked to 1024?

This process is alot more simple than the other option. If it is legit.

I had posted a comment on the youtube video about how he said he just pulled the phone out of the box, but he had a 3d app drawer and he mentioned overclocking, but he showed only 1GHz, which is the default speed. There's also the missing call/apps/favs bar from the bottom.

Why have the comments been disabled I wonder?

He has the 3d drawer because he's using Launcher Pro. It's an app in the market. I actually use that myself and it's awesome. He could have easily installed that right before making the video. As far as the overclocking, the guy sounds like he has no idea what he's talking about or he's just confused. First of all it's not the myTouch HD 4g it's simply the myTouch 4g. Secondly, he's confused with the G2. The G2 and the myTouch 4g have the same procesor, the only difference is the myTouch is set at 1024 and the G2 is set to 800mhz. That myTouch in that video is not overclocked. That's the default speed.

Thanks for the added info. So besided the "overclocking" issue, is his phone really "rooted" and what benefits are there to it in that video?

I've asked a lot of people if they knew who this guy is. Nobody does. So I dunno.. Personally I wouldn't use it. I've heard good things about the Z4root but I don't think it'll work on the MT4g because the MT4g uses a completely different way to root than any of the phones that work with Z4Root. I'll ask around to make sure but I'm 99.9999999999% on that.

I followed the guide on xda. Rooted mine perfectly. Already deleted much bloat. Nice to make a full backup to. Now I can restore stock easily.

Can you share the link to the guide? I looked but cant find it, thanks.

I watched the silly video and you can clearly see that all he did was use VISIONary to r00t his phone. Thing is, going off the video all he did was Temp r00t it, not permar00t.

I used the guide over at XDA and have permar00t with s=off. Much better IMHO. I used VISIONary r14 to r00t mine.

Quadrant managed 1868 with no sweat.
