Rooted my G3 wanted to update and when it starts to install update it stops at 25% everytime and restarts the phone. Anyone know how to fix this?

The problem is when you root, you lose the ability to accept OTA updates. Rooting changed the device to a status of Modified, and the OTA stops. There have been methods to successfully change the status, but rooting typically add a few files that the OTA looks for, and still quits, or the OTA can possibly brick the device.

Thank you. Well let me embrace 4.1.1!

i've always been scared to do so because it seems so difficult

Actually, rooting in my opinion is harder than flashing. Just remember to use ROMs for your device and carrier, wipe cache and reset every new ROM.
